So I just scored a new job as Manufacturing Engineer in north San Diego, Vista to be precise, i have been looking at some of the prices in rent for both apts and houses and some of them are ridiculous. I currently live in Riverside but must move to SD by the end of the month. All you SD members what would be your recommendations towards finding a place to settle, location, rent prices, etc.

    Thanks

My family just moved to Oceanside, just north of Vista.
I'll see if my wife has the notes for all the places she was looking into.
It'd be helpful to know the address of the place you'll be working.

My family lives is Vista. Not trying to be rude but rent there is very low compared to other parts of SD. What can you afford? Compared to RS you may have to change your expectations.

I am in east Oceanside, which is next door to Vista...

All towns have good and bad areas (high and lower rents)... You pay for the quality of living... Many people do live in Riverside County and drive to San Diego County to work...

The closer to the ocean the milder the temeratures. Escondido may have cheaper rents, but if you don't speak Spanish you may not be able to communicate with your neighbors. I went to high school in Escondido, so I say that from seeing the changes there over the years.

San Marcos is a nice compromise, between Escondido and Vista.

2 br apts. range from $1000+, 3 br homes from near $2000+... My daughter lives in a 1 br apt. in Escondido, next to the freeway, the only 'English as a first language speaker' there, and pays $800.

Check it out, I haven't looked to much recently... Good Luck... (so you like Baja, do you?) http://VivaBaja.com is my site!

Border waits would be too long...not to mention all the traffic heading north.
