I understand a lot of people use this system for heat and it works just fine but no way am I keeping an open propane flame in a tiny enclosure while I sleep.

I would never sleep with this heater on in my tent, I'd rather be cold then die of co poisoning or burn my tent and truck down. Electric heat only with ever go in my tent.

I use a co2 detector when using mr buddy. Tested safe and used by millions for 2 decades, but to each their own.

Agree, as long as there's ventilation - using the buddy in a tent is not a problem.

    I've taken the mudflaps off?
I have spent 100+ nights on hunts in the back of my truck with my Mr. Heater going all night and only a side window cracked an inch, and that's only because even on low it gets too hot when Temps are above about 15f.

There is no problem using it in an enclosed space

I understand that I’m just saying for me personally it’s not an option. A lot of people use them with no problems but I just wouldn’t be comfortable with it. If I planned on doing a lot of vehicle camping I would probably set up a propex heat exchanger or something like that.

I was sick of the little 1lb propane canisters so I ordered myself a 5lb propane tank and a Mr. Buddy hose to connect to my heater and stove. I can not seem to get it working right. The pilot is weak, and it generally just cuts off when I switch from the pilot to low or high with the heater. Ive only gotten the stove to work once, and even then only 1 burner (when I turned on the 2nd burner it died). Anyone have this experience using bulk propane on heaters or stoves? When I switch back to my 1lb canisters everything fires right up.

Damn. I just bought the cheap adapter hose they sell at Big5, grabbed the tank off of my grill and had zero issues with it. It behaved just like it does on 1lb bottles.

First, maybe try it with a less-than full propane tank? Let me know!

Buddy heaters a great for truck camping. We've even hung it from a support in our RTT.

I think that the pressure in the full tank may have caused the issue. Once I put in the fuel filter the problem was solved. It seems to act as a regulator. Although I am happy with my new set up, it's gonna take me a little longer to recoup what I've spent vs the 1lb bottles (convenience tax aside). 5lb tank ($60 empty) Mr. Heater adapter hose ($40) fuel filter ($15). Im about $115 in not including fuel (only about $6) to complete the conversion vs @Rubicon-n-Taco with the single Big-5 hose.:censored::smack:
