Nice new light bar and looks like a warn hook on the winch?

What made you realize the ball joints needed replaced? Im hearing a creaking/groaning sound when i turn hard at low speeds kinda wondering if its my ball joints?

Haha nailed it. New light bar. Again.....Frick I'm a light bar whore. Curved 20". Facking awesome output and spread on the road.

I replaced them out of piece of mind. I noticed a clunk from the front passenger when going over softball sized rocks at a higher speed. Plus...with close to 5000+km that I'm going to be putting on here in a little over a month. I figured its best to have fresh stuff under the truck.

And it was a good thing I replaced. Passenger side was shot completely. Drivers side was extremely loose and floppy, so it wasn't king before that one was going to. I'm not surprised though, with over 300xxx km of highway and wheeling on originals. It was time.

What a difference it made though. My steering is 100% tight again. Zero clunks or rattles. Feels good going down the trail haha. The creaking and groaning....my best guess would be steering rack bushings or skid plate movement. Mine sounds horrendous. My skid plates are down right mangled, so they squeak and pop like an old lady. That's on my Dusy list of things to do. Fix skids haha.

Upper ball joints are extremely easy to change dude. I would recommend it if you have any suspicion of a faulty joint. Plus...who doesn't like tight steering:)?

It's another local manufacturer. Speed demon lights. Their stuff is great quality for half the price of rigid or Vision X.

I personally like the curve better yes. The ditch coverage is a lot better than the normal straight bar, and the light spread across the road from lane to lane is consistent and even. I'm pretty happy with it.

Haven't been doing much with the gear thing lately. I've been putting it off trying to save as much as possible for the trip. I've talked to a few people who have run Dusy and both have said running a locker in the front would be much better than re gearing. So it has me thinking haha. Front ARB or gears. Thoughts?

In the mean time, I dissected my spare diff that will "eventually" be getting new gears. I started a few weeks back, then got lazy haha. This diff is what got Spoonman home from Moab after blowing up his ring gear. To my surprise....I'm surprised this piece of shit got him home haha. Ring gear bolts were damn near finger tight. There's a chunk missing off the ring gear. Pinion bearings we shot. I could move it in and out and side to side a significant amount. Not good.

    Here we go...stamped 3.90

Carrier on the table. Notice the massive chunk missing from the corner of it. Lowrange sold it to spoonman like this...

Next you need to remove the pin that holds the pinion shaft in place. Gets hit out only one direction
    [IMG]

Next remove pinion shaft. Slides out

Here's the chunk missing from the ring gear. Text Spoonman and he said he found a chunk when he pulled the third to replace it back with his original from ECGS.

Looking down where the pinion sits. Just a reminder for me....2 pinion shims were down there
    [IMG]

Next use a pry bar and remove pinion seal
    [IMG]

    Here's the seal out

Sorry I don't have any pictures of pressing out the pinion. Ran to a friends house to use his press. Here's something funny....it only took 60psi to bust it loose. Something seriously wrong with that...

Stay tuned for more GEAR ACTION. Or locker. Whichever I decide haha

 guess I am lucky I got home!

Yep that chunk was the chunk I found in the bottom of my gear oil when I got home with that diff.
