That's not the reason for spring under. Spring under gives you better travel numbers and cycles smoother. You get better control over rough terrain instead of skipping across the top of runts, whoops and bumps allowing better throttle control and maintain better breaking by keeping the rubber in the dirt. The ride is much smoother since you're not bucking in the rear.

I know my buddy Marc (Sconniehailer) Just did the Pelfrybuilt shock relocation kit he has with hydro bumps and he loves it. With 12'' Kings.

I got rid of my timbrens long time ago..not only do they make the rear buck more uncontrollably then not, they prevent almost 2" of usable stroke of the shock.

Check this video out. Fox 2.0 on expo springs with just a cheap plastic bump stop less than 2" tall. I had the shocks revalved by DSMS and they did a fantastic job. I had a tad more compression added and a whole lot of rebound shims removed. I'm moving at 60+ mph for comparison, notice how I'm not bucking like crazy

    I like it!

So many options! After the dual batteries are done, its on to the front runner roof rack and then the rear suspension will be addressed.

Lots of great suspension options out there. My walker evans are incredibly tough and uncomfortable on the highway over small bumps. Loaded or not. I need slow speed smoothness for rock crawling and the smoothness on the highway. Is it too much to ask for both?

Is this similar to what you want as well, Dean? I don't really do much high speed baja stuff. I am lost as what coilovers and rear shocks to go with.

Yes and no. I do like going fast in the desert but I enjoy the slower more technical terrain more.

Its all in the shock valving..seriously.

if you are ever down in SoCal I will let you take my tacoma for a spin. My ride on pavement is smooth and not harsh , maybe you'll be surprised.

I'm getting new coilovers, I overpaid big time for m walker evans. I could probably get top of the line Fox or King for what I paid. I'll be starting over on the new truck, so I'll probably try different parts. I believe your truck rides smooth. Looks smooth as hell in that video. I just don't know what to buy. King, fox or icon are my options so far. But no idea what model or anything.

I'm partial to Fox so that's what I would recommend :cookiemonster:

But at the end of the day it all comes down to the individual shock valving that makes your overall ride quality comfdrtable to you or not.

Seems the Icons are the most different when it comes to valving, especially if you are rural and have nowhere to have it done so you do it yourself. The Icons have the anti-corrosion option which might come in handy in Canada though.
I have found that Sonny at DSM can get you a baseline valving based on your setup/use that's pretty damn spot on, you may need to make a small adjustment from there, typically a little less rebound is all I've needed.

    Edit: love my kings
