Does anyone know how to figure out the real invoice price of a new Tacoma?

I have been told that it varies from $2800-$3200 below MSRP. Most dealerships are willing to deal around $500 over invoice, but you really need to know the invoice number.

    Thanks for any help.

The diff between Invoice and MSRP is usually only $1500 - $2000 (I am not positive) but there is also dealer holdback, and that will usually account for $400 - $1000 depending on the dealers incentive with Toyota. To answer your question It would depend on the model and options. You can go into a dealership and ask to see the invoice sheet. I would reccomend B.S.ing the dealerships and telling one that the other offered invoice and let them compete for your sale. I used AAA pricing program to buy mine. I would reccomend finding exactly what you want and shopping over the phone. I ended up with $600 behind invoice after a week of shopping over the phone.
Make sure what they promise over the phone is what you get, If anything changes walk away.
    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

I paid $500 over invoice for mine. Don't let them fool you. Sometimes they bring out a fake invoice price. Bring in your own.

you can also check out the consumer reports buyers guide that has breakdowns of all the base prices and options as well. i like this one because its a hard copy that i can take with me, and it shows things like the reliability and other testing results.

2008 DC TRD Rugged Trail w/Borla, homelink and night vision mirror.

    MSRP $31,528
    Invoice $28.780.03

Paid $28,800 before incentive, $27,800 after.

Invoice price on every one I looked at ended in .03. Any dealership should tell you what invoice is. That is if they are worth dealing with.

It doesn't matter what they sell them for, invoice is what the dealership paid for the vehicle. They can sell them for whatever price they see fit, especially if they need to move em.

CostCo is invoice +$100 +tax & tag less any applicable incentives. No dealer charges. They deliver it to your door with a tank full of gas and all paperwork ready to sign.

I tried costco program in San Jose and it was $500 over invoice, so I went with AAA.

I use Edmunds.com and print it out. When I bought my '05 Altima 3.5SE 3 years ago, the guy tells me "Oh we don't have much wiggle room on these." when discussing price. I said "Oh yeah? That's not what this says." and I tossed the Edmunds printout on the table. Yeah, I got it for invoice.

This is really your best bet, you will have to pay a whopping $14.99 for the report, but paying $14.99 to save hundreds, if not a few thousand...very well worth it.

When I bought my truck, I used the "CostCo Dealer", and they showed me the truck I wanted, $100 over invoice. So I went to another dealer, told them what I wanted and that I could get it for $100 over invoice, dealer said he could beat it. Went back to CostCo dealer told him I could get his price beat, so he said he would match it. That's when I realized the 'invoice' not as low as they could go. In the end, bought the truck from the non Costco dealer for $2500 below MSRP out the door.

Just do a little homework, don't buy the 1st one you see, and you too can work the dealer for good deal!

I'm currently in the market myself!

As I mentioned in my other post, the Costco program didn't work for me... $2,700 over invoice still.

Currently I'm comparing auto brokers with http://www.fightingchance.com/

+1 I just bought a DC TRD Sport today using the info and methods from fightingchance.com. Very helpful.... ended up about $500 below invoice.

You're best bet...buy in the US and drive back. There are a few guys over at TN that have done it and it ends up saving them thousands.
