I order a set of bi-color heated mirrors with the H-MOD package and had them installed by a local shop that deals with custom electronics and other electrical automotive components. Well last night was the first time since I had them installed in September that I had used the heated function on my snowed mirrors. Well after it running its full 10 min cycle nothing happened, the switch lit up stating the mirrors were on and after the 10 mins flashed to say it shut off the heaters but the snow was still there. Is this something i can troubleshoot myself with a little help from the fourm or should I be taking to the shop and dealing with it that way? Its getting to be winter crazyness here and I really want these to start working, ecpecially since i want to do my next round of MODS (read lift, sliders, skids and some custom lights and interior lights)soon.

when you turn them on, do the mirrors feel warm to the touch?

nope no heat even after a full 10 cycle, the switch works as it should but nothing to the mirrors.

    Fixed that for you.

But seriously, if I had paid what they are asking for that product and it didn't work as advertised my self-service interaction would stop at the fuse. If the fuse is fine or you can replace it and the problem remains, then I'd be making my way to the installers location to make them sort it out. Sucks to hear that the first person I've encountered with these is having grief with them as I have considered them myself.

i have read may posts about people with them and love them, my thoughts are the shop is to blame as i have had many problems with them installing the mirrors, if it does turn out to be the mirrors ill let everyone know, but right now i think it was somthing the shop did or didnt do.

Hey Hollywood good to see another Calgarian, the weather has been nuts today I was so thankful for all the features these trucks have especially when my truck started going sideways with a car right beside me...right when I was starting to sh*t bricks, traction control kicks in and straightens the truck out!! These things are awesome. :D
If you could let me know what shop did the install and maybe some pic's of the area the defrosters cover.
I'm dropping my truck off tomorrow morning to have the blower motor replaced and the 4x4 looked at since it sometimes will take ~5 mins (no joke) for the 4x4 to engage and the light to stop flashing on the dash.

I just got back from the shop, it was the aftermarket switch i used because the stock one was to big for the blank, they hooked the wires backwards so no power was going to the mirrors, they fixed it and man they heat up fast. work awsome now. After it is all said and done I would let the shop do the install again, The shop is The Car Salon on 32 Ave in the NE, great group of guys. Definatky a "TODO" upgrade for us Canadians.

The mirrors were about 300 ish and another 300 ish to have them installed. Not cheap but not scraping windows at 2AM when I finish work it worth it.

Glad you got fixed up , I am going to look into this as well . I think this is definitely something that Toyota overlooked in these trucks , especially in Canada . They offer us heated leather seats , but not heated mirrors ? WTF ?

So glad to hear that you got it sorted out. I'm looking into the 2010 4Runner side mirror mod and will be dragging a trailer at times and considered the heated Muth bi-color conversion for them as well.
