I have been a member on TW since 2015 and never created a build thread. Now as I get older and forget things that I have done to my truck I decided to archive it all here. Now I have to play catch up for the last 3 years so here we go...

    A resent picture: Summer 201820170303_174032.jpg

I bought my “New To ME” 2015 TRD OFF ROAD. It had 9000 miles on it and was owned by a Nice Lady. We worked a deal through our Local Dealer (Long Story) so I was able to get it Toyota Certified Used with a 100k mile warranty. It was a great deal. When she bought it new from the same dealership she had everything added to it. 7year paint/upholstery protection package, Clear Bra, 5 year full maintenance package that includes everything from the oil changes to regular scheduled stuff. They rolled all of it over to me. I was undecided on a 2016 or a 2015 but getting this screaming deal I just had to take the 2015.

    My Toyota backstory…
In the spring of 1995 when I was 17yrs old I bought a RED 1989 Standard Cab, 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 4x4, 4:11 gears, vinyl seats & flooring with 60k miles. I was so excited. I wish I had a picture.

The first 2 times I took it to the mountains I kept getting stuck. My friends teased me about my 4 banger Jap-Crap truck. They had Ford Trucks & 60’s Broncos & Internationals. All with BIG BLOCK V8s. I was devastated. The whole reason I bought the truck was to go with my buds and not be the passenger tag-along guy. I also wanted to take my Girlfriend “Camping or to the Drive In”. (More on that Later)

The truck did not come with an owners manual and there was no Google or TacomaWorld back then so I had to figure this out myself. I was a naive teenager and thought that if you shifted the transfer case into 4H or 4L it would be in 4WD… NOOOO! You see kids back in my day you had to manually lock in the front hubs right on the wheels. That meant one would have to get their a$$ out of the truck and lock in the front hubs on each wheel by hand. To be honest I do not remember how I finally figured this out. I think I was just poking around the front end and noticed the from hub with a switch that said LOCK / UNLOCK with arrows.

After I figured it out we went “wheeling” and I ran circles around my friends. Their HEAVY RIGS would get stuck in the snow & mud all day long where my light little truck just floated on top of it all. They nicknamed my truck “RED BILLY” because it was race red and climbed like a billy goat. It was a great summer and senior year.

Well boys & girls… Those awesome “Camping & Drive In” trips I told you about earlier… That eventually lead to the creation of life… MY SON! My High School Sweetheart & I had a baby. You can’t fit a car seat in a Standard Cab Toyota. So I had to trade it in on a family car.

My Son is 19yrs old now and just moved out, I think you can guess what I did………………

    I traded in this…Durango.jpg

I installed some Clazzio seat covers I purchased from a TW member.
I also installed Aluminium Seat spacers. You can read a lot of reviews and purchase information here...
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fs-aluminum-seat-spacers-for-seat-mod.563339/
I am very happy with the results of both.
The fact that it was 40 degrees outside and I have no room to work in the garage with the door closed made the leather a bit stiff. However, I was able to get the rears on buy warming the covers up in the house and bringing 1 piece out at a time. For the front seats I just took the seats in the house. It took about 2.5 hours taking my time.20181101_141431.jpg 20181101_141418.jpg 20181101_163145.jpg

Left Home very late and hit rush hour traffic. Not much to report just a dark 5 hour drive to St. George. We are staying at our friends vacation home for the night and will hit the road to Las Vegas then Death Valley tomorrow.
