Figure ill start a build thread and will update it over time as i get new stuff but here is where i am at now. I drive a 2004 tacoma S-Runner with 84k miles on it. This was given to me when my grandfather passed away, I decided to keep because it has sentimental value to me vs selling it for a 4x4. I do mainly alot of on road driving seeing hows its my daily driver but i do go out and get to have fun on fire roads. Is a fun truck, ik it will never be as good off riad as a 4x4 but its my truck and i love it. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask, i like helping anyone that is new to the world of lifting a 5lug, or if you have any info or advice to give me im always looking to learn more. Thanks for reading!

Maybe its just me, but those spindle castings look terrible. I'm sure they are fine, just from a machinist's standpoint, that ridge looks like a fracture point.

Sweet build nonetheless. I've never heard of Doestch, how do they perform?

They were painted with a ruff finish so it makes there casting seem kinda bad but they are pretty solid. And doetsch shocks are nice. Give a good ride comfert and are fairly cheap. Idk about the ride comfert on there coils, i heard they are stifer then stock but idk hoe stiff that is, i have s runner coils now with the coil spacer which gives some what a stiff ride but its still a smooth ride. I think i have the stiffness now that should of been on this truck. Stock it was kinda soft.

My sport is very stiff. Speed bumps are not fun and living in Missouri, potholes are everywhere. Like trying to ride a horse that wants to buck you off. One day I'll splurge and get some kings, if my wife lets me...:pout:

It might help if I had some weight in the back.

I have a an AAl and fabtech shocks in the rear and my rear is stiff as hell, im thinking of swapping to fabtech aal and some fox shocks hopefully that will smooth things out but up front as of now it rides smooth for a lifted 15 year old truck. But still stiff enough the bumper i run doesn’t sag the front down and if u get a winch it won’t drag the front down any.

Fabtech aal are stiff af! Most aal are going to be stiff unless you add alot of weight to the bed and still it will be some time driving it for them to soften up

Hoping the fabtech ones will be softer then then the fatbob ones. And a nice set of shocks will help too

I got Fabtech coils off a Prerunner Tacoma, they are ok. The Fabtech coils for the uca spindle kit didn't work for me cuz they bowed out n I couldn't slide the shock inside to mount it

The coil fit fine. I found it on a truck at pick a part so was like ill try it n $40 for some Fabtech coils who cares it doesn't work. It didn't have a top spring mount/spacer so I unbolted it n pulled the coil off. The Prerunner coilover setup isn't like a king or fox coilover so it worked out

    Spindle lift install
While doing a spindle lift most your front suspension will be taken apart so at this time if you need new ball joints, hubs, wheel bearings, rotors, etc it will be a good time to change all of this.
(Once i get some photos i will put some up, if you have any you are willing to let me use dm them to me)
    Removeing stock spindle
    1. Chalk rear wheels, then Lift truck off the ground then support with jack stands
    2.remove wheel
3.remove caliper then secure somewhere using a bungee strap
    4.remove calliper bracket
5.remove axel cover using a flat chisel and working at the edge till lose enough to pop off.
6.Remove cotter pin holding wheel not
    7.remove nut cover and nut
8.smack rotor and front bearing will pop out
    9.reinstall wheel nut
    10. Pull rotor strait off with gental tug to knock out rear wheel bearing
    11. Remove wheel nut
    12.remove dust sheild
13.remove both nuts holding abs cable(if this aplys to you)
14.use rubber mallet to tap abs cable lose(if aplys to you)
(15-17 will be pretty similar, remove cotter pin and nut, next remove the ball joint, they may be stuck you can try gently tapping the bottom of the bolt using a brass block not to damage threads if this doesn’t work you will need a ball joint separator)
15.remove cotter pin, castle nut, tie rod end from spindle
    16. Remover cotter pin, castle nut, then lower ball joint (lbj)
    17. Remove cotter pin, castle nut, upper ball joint (ubj)
    18. The spindle is now off the truck.
    19. Remover lower ball joint backet from spindle
    20. Make sure to clean all parts you will be reusing
    Installing new lift spindle
    1. Install lower ball joint bracket to spindle, top smooth side tourqe to 116ftlb
    2. Install spindle on ubj tourqe castle nut to 53ftlb
    3. Install lower ball joint tourqe castle nut to 116ftlb
    4. Install tie rod end tourqe castle nut to 53ftlb
5.re grase spindle shaft and bearing
    6. Place bearings back on into the hub
    7. Reinstall hunb onto spindle
    8. Tourqe axel nut to 12ftlb then replace cover and cotter pin then spin rotor to ensure it spins freely also make sure there is no play in the bearings
    9. Reinstall axel shaft cover using rubber hammer to gentally reseat and not damage it
    10. Reinstall abs line(if aplys)
    11. Reinstall caliper bracket
    12. Reinstall caliper
    13. Put wheel back on
    14. Drive around for about 5 miles then re check everything to ensure there is no play and everything is tourqe to spec
    15. You will need an alignment after
    16. Go have fun

    Installing AAL
    Disassembly:
1.chalk front then jack rear of truck up. Support with jack stands on the frame
    2. Remove wheels
    3. Remove shocks
    4. Remove ubolts, either unbolt or cut them off(better to use new ubolts every time)
    5. Jack rear axel off of leafs then support with jack stands
    6. Place 2 c clamps on each side of the center pin
    7. Remover center pin either cut or unbolt. I was able to unbolt mine but you probably wonr be as lucky
    8. Slowly uncrank c clamps untill leaf pack is fully decompressed
    reassembling:
    1. Place new AAL under old leaf pack
    2. Clamp down with c clamps untill fully compressed(i was not that strong so i used the center pin to compress tge leafs together this is not recommended due to it can cause damage to the center pin and strech it, i got extras so after compressing i put the c clamps back on and swaped center pins)
    3. lower axel back onto leaf pack making sure to line up center pin with the hole on the axel (i found it doesn’t simply just line up, so between lowering the axel and jacking up on the leaf pack at the same time i go them to align. Remember to stick the plate untop of the jack you are using to jack the leaf pack up because if you forget all your hard work to get it align will be a a waste because you will have to lower it back down to put the plate on)
    4. Reinstall ubolts, tighten evenly
    5.reinstall shocks (5lug tourqe shock bolts to 19fltlb, 6lug trucks 53ftlb)
    6. Trim all bolts to proper length
    7.reinstall wheels
    8. Retighten all ubolts after 500 miles
Your truck will sit really high at first but will settle down after awhile.
Note that rear aal will stiffen your ride
Also new taller shocks are recommended after adding an aal
