Yeah she told the officers that it wasn't my fault and they knew from the way the wreck looked that it wasn't my fault either.

That thoroughly sucks. Good to hear you're no worse for wear though. Can always build another one once the insurance check shows up...

We love to piss and moan about crumple zones increasing the cost of repairs....

But that crumple zone most likely saved your life today!

Fixed that. No doubt he had the weight and speed advantage, and he's sittin' higher.

On top of that, if I tag something with enough cowbell to buckle the crumple zones in the frame, that vehicle is done...or at the very least, I won't be owning it anymore.

Shit lol the thought crossed my mind when I saw the damage

Yes. Yes it does. Looks like my trip out west is not gonna happen. Where the truck is now is in the middle of no where so it is gonna be a while until I know if they are going to total it or not. Now I just need to decide between an FJ or Taco :anonymous:

Yeah they will bite you in the ass when your truck isn't totaled but when something like this happens I am definitely glad they worked they way they are designed to.

Get the truck. At least you can then use it for stuff like hauling. I want to like FJ's so badly but...I just can't. Toyota couldn't decide what to do with that vehicle. If it was gonna be a pure offroad toy (which is what it turned out to be), then put a fucking 3-link SFA on it already. Stop fucking around.

And if it's not going to be an offroad toy, why build it? You've already got 70something SUV models in your lineup. You don't need another.

Toyota couldn't decide whether to shit or go blind so they closed one eye and farted :(

Well thanks for raining on my parade lol but your advice is always welcome. I have always like the way FJ's looked. I see where you are coming from as far as linking it (I would love to have these be solid axle out of the factory) but building an FJ would be a pretty cool learning experience and be something different.

Shorter wheelbase at least, so you have that while wheeling.

Higher center of gravity though.

But you can get factory sliders. And the new 8.2 diff.

    Haha shit'll buff out.

The only airbag that deployed was the driver steering wheel. I don't think I have (well had I guess) the seat air bags and if I do they didn't deploy and I feel like if I did, they would have deployed.

Me too man me too. I was talking to my dad about it on the way back and he told me that is a prime example of why you can't take every day for granted cause as easily as I walked out, I easily could have died too.

Yeah the high center of gravity is the only downside that I can think off. The factory sliders are a nice addition too. What year did they throw in the 8.2? Dad was saying that he thinks he will be able to get the insurance company to get the money back out of the mods I put in it, which will be fucking awesome, but I don't think it is gonna happen. We shall see though. I don't even know if the lady I hit was insured or not. I will be able to see the police report in about 5 days or so.

EDIT: After looking at armor options for FJ's, I noticed that all the sliders I saw are all bolt-on....no welding which, IMO, worries me a little but that seems to be the way to go.
