Man bad@ss - what do you want to be doing with it? Where is that?

Spent more time working on making the bedsides look good - the passenger side is like a factory reject, but whatever it's close enough after all the attempts made to get it looking alright.

    Made bolt on supports.
    IMG_2622.jpg IMG_2610.jpg

    The bad side.

    IMG_2619.jpg

Completely different fit on this side, fit well.

Ha, thanks kinda just fell into my lap honestly. I'm not dead set yet but I think I still want to do the go fast route but also be able to rock crawl a bit. Just got some sliders welded on last friday, picking up madtaco's old fiberglass fenders saturday, and doing a bunch of maintenance next week. I really need to sit down and put some plans to paper honestly. That was out on Gold Mountain in Big Bear, pretty fun trail run I did with a group from here.
Bedsides and the supports look pretty good, when you gonna go wheel it?

You have a miata too right? Still have the extra cab?

    Miata
Really wow? Shoot I was hoping to convince you to do a day run out to Barstow . Sold the 2nd Miata to have more money to put towards the truck, kinda miss having a street car but meh. Extra cab is sitting in the driveway, swapped all the parts over except for a few small things, light bar, radio, interior lights etc

This was a cool solution to an issue from installing the shock hoops. The power steering return line pressed up against the shock hoop making the hose difficult to remove and get back on.

I cut tube off of the reservoir and drilled another hole for it.

    IMG_2630.jpg

@Tacomoto23 tig welded the tube and covered over the old hole. (Alert observers will notice that he's not welding the reservoir, but part of his exhaust, but I got a good pic so I'm putting it haha)

    IMG_2638.jpg

There was a layer of a copper color metal sandwiched in the middle of the metal the reservoir is made out of. I'm not sure, but there was a lot of smoke when welding and I had cleaned the reservoir with acetone and brake clean inside and out and wire wheeled the heck out of it so I'm thinking the multi-metal material may have had something to do with that.

    IMG_2632.jpg

    All welded up.

    IMG_2639.jpg

Painted with Seymor 316 Stainless Steel paint - not too impressed with how much overspray it puts out, but compared to steel-it it's super inexpensive.

    IMG_2652.jpg

Tons of clearance now for the hose.

    IMG_2653.jpg

@Nicklovin I hear ya - once one of my trucks is sold a sporty road car would be awesome, used Toyota / Subaru 86's are coming down in price so in a few years hopefully one will work out. Can't say how quickly the truck will come together - depends on my workload once school starts in the fall at my new job. If I can get the suspension, engine, and lockers dialed maybe by January it'll have the capability for a group run / shakedown - Azusa will probably be where I take it a couple times.

Think my first big diagnostic test is complete - can’t take credit for it being resolved. Feels nice to be finished with it just the same.

Just got the engine idling right. Time to move on to more fun things! Pic from a compression test I decided to run to make sure I didn’t have a head gasket issue. Removing the hood made it easier to quickly see the compression gauge lol

You can have my stock ones for free - they’re not blown out I don’t think. That or search craigslist, offer up, race dezert etc every day to hopefully find a used kit!

Went to 35’s - two spares and a good used set of Toyo RT’s

    DF2F504D-0996-4237-9C87-6405F059F3FA.jpg

Had to cut what felt like a ton.

Sealed it with Henry’s roofing / construction sealer

Started an engine cross bar and made some new fender mounts since 35’s would have clearanced ones I made before.

    Back on it's own weight w/ 35's

    121EFA11-95B9-46D1-B526-8775C372DAAD.jpg

Made a little pvc plug where the stock air tube will interfere with the cross brace.

    55B282B7-9CFD-4FFA-8A46-6D72327A6962.jpg

Got a hand from my neighbor and put in a 3 piece sliding window - I like it more than the 4 piece it had - same design as my 08.

Wanted to make sure I wasn't getting the "infamous passenger side leak" by the HVAC intake - sealed it up with more Henry's I had left from the firewall. I found out the leak may have been from the AC drain grommet. I'll seal that up as well.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-infamous-passenger-side-leak.415269/

Sealing the intake back up, had to get a little creative on how to get the sheet metal to form to the core support.

Gotta trim the front fender a little on this side - looks a little funky, but it's not a huge deal.

Getting a bit further with the cantilever and possible bed setup!
