So it all started 14 years ago my wife brings home a dog
    I told her i didn't want a dog
So fine its your dog you want it its yours
You take it out you clean up after him you feed him
    Hes yours not mine.
Then one day iam home seating in my chair and i find myself
petting him and watching tv then iam taking out
    Playing with him.
Coming home from work each day and there he is tail going
    look in hes eyes
like YES hes home its party time and it always was
He became my dog my pal my boy my shadow Damn it
    I said i didn't want a dog.
Well my wife was giving him a bath he fell getting
out of the tub on the floor hurt hes hips
Always had bad hips anyway but this time it was bad
The wife thinks its bc of her
Anyway we take him to the vet looks at him the hips are bad hes old
    may not have much time
I NEVER WANTED TO HIT SOMEONE SO HARD AND SO LONG IN MY LIFE
Thats my dog my pal you do something and do it now
The vet give him sum meds now hes home resting.
On the way home the wife is like i should not have been like that with the vet. Yes i know but hes my pal.
Then she says i thought you didn't want a dog.
Just how does a dog make a 50 year old seat here
    and cry like a baby
Damn Dog my pal my boy my best friend my shadow
Anyway thanks guys for letting my vent a little
Keep you guy updated thank you

True dog people understand what you're going through. I'm sure the vet knows... Those brown eyes have a way of worming their way into your life and it really hurts when they get old and there's nothing you can do for them. Been there, done that and shed many tears over her.

In the long run, I'd do it over again and again - there's nothing like the wagging tail when you get home from work and first thing in the morning when they want to go for a walk - even when you don't want to.

    Vent all you need to...

i just commented on another thread about being afraid of dogs because of numerous bites when i was a kid, but growing up i had a husky and loved that dog. unfortunately some SOB drove in my driveway (400 yards off the street) and ran over my dog. came home from school to find my dog whimpering..............had to get my uncle to put him down, too many injuries to make him suffer with.

14 years is a good long time for a doggie. I think mines on 14-15 now and she's still ticking away.

My dog is getting to this point too, he is 9 and has bad hips also. I help him with what I can and keep him happy. I'm dreading the day he has to leave and I know I'm going to be heart broken. He was my first baby. Cherish every moment, take lots of pics and keep him happy. :)
