What parts did you use and where'd you get 'em? I'm due for new front brakes and have similar gripes about the Taco brakes. I came from a Z71 which, in my opinion, seemed to have much more braking power. Brands and/or part numbers would be great if you have them handy.

the brake pedal and stopping pwr on my 2010 AC are so far so good, but I did notice the master cylinder vac booster diaphram has been re-designed/removed. There's a small unit next to the reservoir looks to be some kind of hydraulic or vac canister which may be the new assist/accumulator?? no idea when Toyota made this change or if it's even possible to be contributing to these "soft peddal, etc." issues.

That's the what mine's lacking too...that and the pedal effort needed. I wouldn't call it soft exactly, but I have to put a lot of effort on the pedal to get it to start biting; but once they do they will stop the truck in a hurry.

What ceramic pads did you use? I have Pep Boys's platinum ceramic in my Maxima and the initial bite and pedal modulation is awesome...and they are quiet, fade free (in daily driver duty) and almost dust free too. I've wondered if they would work well on the Tacoma.

I wish I could identify exactly what is different between my truck and some of the Tacomas I test drove. Several of the ones I test drove had really mushy, weird brakes. Others, including the one I bought, have great brakes--very responsive, not mushy at all.

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
Mine get mushy once a month or so. All I have to do to fix it is pump the brake while parked until firm and I have good, grabby breaks again.

Does that adjust up the rear drums? I knew about backing up and lightly pumping the brake pedal as a way to adjust them...but doing it while parked is new to me!
