Lol I had a 73 ford courier and I built my own out of an old coke can.... Just ran the hose out of the valve cover (w/o a PVC valve the truck didn't have one) and dumped the oil every few weeks worked like a charm kept the carb cleaner.

so literally you can buy any catch can no matter the make model etc and hook it up because every single one of them serve the same purpose? Except what i DO NOT want is one of them with the filter on top for a breather?

The higher quality ones might come with a filter or screen material, as a secondary medium to help collect the finer oil vapors. It is up to you if you want one with that or not.

Do note though, that the cheaper the can, the higher the potential of crappy fittings and whatnot. You get what you pay for.

As long as it seals and has no leaks you can pretty much use any style you want. Don't use the ones with the filtered vent, I believe that would be more for a "Turbo" application - Torspd can verify this.

Mine was a about 40 bucks from ebay and is made from 1/8" steel, seemed pretty well made. Used teflon tape on the fittings. I did not put any media such as scotch brite pad inside of the catch can, but it does it's job well.

    +1

    Personally, I'd just DIY.
It's not hard to make, and you know the quality of parts going into it.

For a design, a large-ish can is better, and some kind of bulkhead separating the inlet and outlet at least halfway down the can is good.

Below that, anything that will help condense the oil vapors is good... some stainless mesh would be great. It doesn't have to be a fine mesh, you aren't filtering, you're simply providing a large surface area for the oil vapor to condense onto, where it will drain to the bottom.

Where do you find a good air tight container?

I had planned on buying a $35 ebay can and adding a divider, metal mesh and replace the fitting / hoses.

    Cheap and easy?

You can make one from PVC pipe.

No sir. Both valve covers are routed into the can. Then it vents on its own. No suction. So it isn't tied into any of the intake or related parts at all. I plan on rerouting it later, but it will still be independent of the intake.

Mine also has to be slightly different since I run a turbo. I have to route it in such a fashion that i don't add boost pressure into the crank case and surrounding areas. Otherwise, it causes LOTS or oil leaks. Plus it reduces power.
