Here's something you don't see every day, my dad and I got ahold of some sheets of corrugated aluminum intended for building a clean room that was never built- so we took it, chopped it up with a skill saw and with some aluminum angle and flat stock and a bunch of stainless steel screws we built a pretty ingenious tonneau cover for my 5 lug.

It utilizes the bolts for the stock bed rails as you can see in the second picture, and it slides and locks into place. As soon as my pop-n-lock arrives, it'll be an awesome fully lockable flush-mounted aluminum tonneau.

The sheets were already powder-coated white, I think next weekend I am going to hit it up with a couple coats of black paint with my jam-gun.

The unfortunate part is is that it would be completely impractical to replicate. I've got about $250 worth of aluminum stock tied up into it alone and for that you could almost get a vinyl cover (granted, not as tough as this! I was standing in the center of it with the tailgate down!), but the sheets of corrugated aluminum, from what I was told, ran about $1200 for a 4x10'.

    I love it.

Also note, the Tacoma bed is shaped like a damn TRAPEZOID... It made this extremely time consuming.

yeah, it wouldn't make sense to build it unless you had access to free materials like we did.

Is there any way to "open" it, or do you have to slide it all the way off?

I put a feeler out for them already- I don't think I am going to do anything with them so if I can score a decent box from work I am going to put them up for grabs I think...

Nah, you drop the tail gate, unlock it and it slides out. The likelihood of me ever needing it to be taken off is extremely slim, I don't usually haul anything but my band stuff and when I do that I have a small trailer that I use.
