Yes and yes. Silver is doable.

    Might as well be black...

... which I already have with the steel wheels.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a fan of the sleeper look too. These are five spoke Cobra rims that are gonna expose the big disc brakes. I want the Cobra rims to look the part of a performance car. I’ve looked at pictures of Cobra rims in white and I like them. The rims originally came in silver years ago so I know how that will look and I like that as well. Bronze would obviously go well with the woodgrain which I do intend to redo eventually.

Gunmetal is a few Shades lighter than black... In my opinion really makes a light car with wood grain pop.

It turns out the only bushings that look questionable are the rear upper control arm bushings. I was expecting something up front, but the ball joints are still solid and the control arm bushings up front look great. I already bought the bushings and I took apart the car so I'm gonna replace them but I am left wondering what is rattling up front in the passenger side going over small bumps.

I set the front control arm bushings on fire. The next step will be to smash the sleeves until they come out. After that I have to press in the new sleeves and install bushings. Then I will tackle the rear control arms.

Funny you should mention... my son would like for the two of us to build a forge. I told him to research it and we would work on it together.

I still have the rear control arms to do. The upper control arms are gonna be easy. Easy because the sleeves don’t have to be pressed out. The lower control arms however need the sleeves pressed out. That is gonna require tools. I have to purchase the tools. Aaargh!

Yeah. I am sure there is a generic bushing tool, but I didn’t want to take the chance that I wouldn’t have the exact diameter I need. I ordered the tool from Full Tilt Boogie Racing. They produce and sell many upgrades for the Cobra IRS so I figure the tool they sell will get the job done.

The tools to remove the bushings came in the mail today. The tools are absolutely necessary for removal especially considering the control arm is made out of aluminum which takes away my alternative barbaric methods of removal.

As I prepare to rewire the Daddywagon with 1989 mustang wiring it occurs to me I have the opportunity to fix the inoperative fuel gauge/sending unit. Since I am switching to the mustang gauges/cluster, why not switch to the mustang fuel tank/sending unit?
