Haha! Some coworkers showed that to me and I enjoyed it. Watching it just now on the chromebook instead of my phone I can see the 5.0 badge on the fender and the speedo in the car that is filming is accelerating towards 120mph! Awesome!

I was gonna hold off but I miss driving it. I ordered the Ford Performance Heavy Duty Clutch last night. I also ordered the pilot bearing from a different supplier. Right now the plan is to get it back on the road and then take it on my summer vacation to the Jersey shore. After that it will be tear down time for dash and console installation and whatever else I can think if to do. I am almost done with the bushing upgrades. Rear is completed and the left side front suspension is back together. Just gotta finish up the right side and start on the clutch.

I think it’s the caster/camber plate on the right side. I noticed during assembly of the suspension movement at the bearing which holds the strut up top.

I think I found a place willing to strip and refinish these wheels. If it works out I could have these wheels on the car by the end of summer. I still need to pick a color. I am leaning towards bronze right now.

I thought about it. If I get rims for the Tacoma refinished then gunmetal would be up there but for the Daddywagon I’m thinking bronze or white.

I dropped them off today. Gloss white is what I asked for. I am hopeful that they turn out awesome. I was contemplating tire size since I officially got the ball rolling on the rims. All 4 rims are 17x9. But the offset/backspacing is different from front to back, so there would be no benefit to getting the same tire size at all 4 corners. If all 4 were exactly the same then I could rotate front to back. That being said I am leaning towards 255/40R17 for the front tires and 275/40R17 for the rear tires... fingers crossed that there is no rubbing.

I had the day off today and decided to tackle clutch replacement despite temps in the mid 90’s. Needless to say I did not finish the job. I worked on it on and off all day but in the end did not finish. The pilot bearing was particularly troublesome. I ended up leaving the old shell in the crankshaft and just replacing the bearings. I had a pilot bearing removal slide hammer and still could not remove that shell. It wouldn’t budge. The transmission is mated with the engine again. Re-assembly has begun. Here you can see the difference in thickness between the old clutch disc and the new one.

I got to drive a GT350. I really didn’t come close to the car’s capabilities because I am used to shifting at 4k or 5k rpms. Still, it’s a great car to drive.

My FIL’s next door neighbor in the 80s and early 90s was a Texas DPS trooper. He had two different patrol vehicles; the Mustang and the Caprice.

He preferred the ‘91 Caprice (“Shamu”) over the Mustang because it had a higher top end and was steady at speed. He loved the Mustang because the act of getting up to speed was a “rodeo ride on a pissed bull.“ He said both were quick and could catch any Jaguar out there.

Bottom line, though, is that if you’re spending 10 to 12 hours in a car on the highway, you want the whale. If you’re moving through traffic or in th4 boonies, you wanted the ‘Stang.

Yeah. If your job involves long periods of time in a vehicle then comfort trumps most other things.

The guys refinishing my wheels sent me some pictures. I believe the wheels have been stripped and are being prepared for the powder coating process.

It has been a week of setbacks. The brake pedal went to the floor about 1/2 mile from home. Luckily I was not traveling very fast and was able to stop. I discovered the brake hose had rub through on the rim/tire. I pinched it off with locking pliers and was able to drive it home. The rims were picked up and found to be lacking in quality with regards to the powder coating job. This upset me because they required me to pay additional monies to smooth them out. I was tempted to leave them there. In the end they removed the additional costs for smoothing. I dropped the rims off for tire installation. What is done is done and I am stuck with them for now. I do not have pics because last weekend my cell phone met it’s untimely demise. Over 6,000 pictures lost. My own fault... I’ll leave it at that. No cloud to save me. Cloud on the next phone. I won’t have the rims back until next week. Hopefully I will have a fully functional phone by then too.
