Back in May, on my dad's 70th birthday, he was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. The cancer has been very aggressive. Chemotherapy and other treatments unfortunately have failed and he is his time is very limited.

The last time he was in the hospital he asked my wife and I "When do I get to see the new Corvette C8 on the road?". When my wife told him they don't release until 2020 the look in his eyes about killed me. My heart fell through the floor as he began to realize the chances of him seeing the 2020 Corvette was most likely not going to happen.

Long story short my wife reached out to GM and the awesome people at GM and Midway Chevrolet offered to bring one in for him to have a private viewing. They just decided to hold a public event on the 24th. So on August 23 my dad got to see the 2020 Corvette C8 up close and personal. They were not able to take him out for a ride as it was a prototype but they had a product specialists there and a few other people to give him a tour and answer all his questions. This was the same car Jay Leno test drove.

This was a total surprise to my dad. He knew he was going out on Friday but he didn't know where or what for. I invited all of his friends to the event and it was amazing. They gave him a bunch of Corvette swag and a really cool coin that was giving out to the people who attend the unveil of the Corvette C8. He had a great time seeing all of his friends and getting a tour of the C8.

Damn that was hard to write...

Anyways, here is the video of his Corvette C8 experience. Hope you enjoy it.

Here is the coin. I'll take a better picture of it later.

This is Fucking Awesome in so many ways!

    First of all Fuck Cancer!

Go GM for doing good deed!
I dont think Toyota would do something like this. But I could be wrong and I would like them to prove me wrong!

Someone that has lost lots of his family to cancers all I can say is spend as much time as can with him and ask questions, childhood stuff, what he thinks about the past, present and what he thinks Is to become... just small talk can be the best sometimes..I wish I would of....more.

    Good luck!!

Thank you. I really do have to thank my wife @Girlfriend for reaching out to GM and getting this put together. It was so awesome.

    Thank you.

I know the feeling! I still can't watch it without tearing up.

    Fuck Cancer!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your losses and I thank you for the advice. I try to spend time at his house and go over fixing stuff and I talk to him during the time I'm there. His memory isn't that great these days so some of his stories seem to taper off near the end. But I still enjoy them.

Thanks everyone. It sucks but it's part of life. As my dad has always said "Getting old ain't for pussies". And boy is he right.
