Looks good. How did you apply that primer?

    - In the theme of rust repair, along the way I’ve replaced the gas tank and fuel pump due to the rust around where the fuel pump assembly connects was causing an evap leak. I gave the tank a quick spray paint job to help protect it a bit, we'll see how it goes, but it's much much better now

I'm going to be painting my camper shell in the next month or two. I think I'm going to use that same NAPA primer, I like your end results. Any other advice or videos you'd recommend before jumping into this job? Will be my first time operating a spray gun.

Be sure to do research for your paint setup. The paint data sheets tell you the stuff you need to know to spray.

If you’ve never done any painting (like myself), this paint society channel on youtube has helped me immensely. Prep and right tools for the job make a big difference. (my work is def nowhere close to perfect) but I’m happy with it and its been a great learning experience.

Thanks for the info. Did you spray that primer on straight or did you add a reducer?

I followed the PDS and used a 10% reducer, I have the PCR10.

The Paint society channel recommended the slowest reducer you can get which will give your paint more time to flash, I … ended up with what Napa gave me.

Now that I’ve got a bit more experience I can be more picky i guess x)

The 3m PPS2.0 system is a game changer compared to the conventional stuff, makes prep for paint much easier. Worth the investment I think. I don’t have the fanciest guns, but they also make a big difference. Paint Society does a great job reviewing the pros and cons of cheap guns (check through their videos) that’s where I learned about the PPS 2.0 paint system.

Awesome job, cutting out that rust and installing the panels. I did mine last fall and had trouble getting the welds to bond properly on one section, about 8 inches of the panel seam. I was in a hurry, tried JB weld and then some body filter. It lasted for a few months before it cracked. Its still much better than a rusty bedside.

Yours looks 10x better, I wish I'd had more time to put into my repairs.
