You must be bored. The Texas weather was great this past weekend. Highs in the 70's. I got to spend some time outside. Oh, and I invested in a new tool for both my taco and the woodwork -- a 21 gallon air compressor. Now I've got to start saving up the money for the tools to attach to it. Only got a blower and tire attachment so far.

So frankly, in my garage there will be more blowing and less sucking now. I'm doing my part to counteract your alleged Texas suckage.

I appreciate a cold spell too, but I don't think I'd want to live somewhere where I have to deal with snow on the ground for weeks or months at a time. C'mon, what's wrong with some 70's in January? It's a chance to do some mods on your Taco without freezing.

I did that yesterday, except replace mods on the Tacoma with mods on the wife's Corolla.

I much prefer working on the Taco, but atleast it was still a Toyota. :)

(No point to that little story except to add a little more length to Sawdust's intro thread.) (you're welcome)

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
A little warm weather is just the thing take the sting out of olde man winter. Here in balmy central MA., it was about 60today, but last Thur it was zero.
By the way our local Taco dealer sent me a letter and would like to buy my truck back, they have some sort of scam going, no doubt, wanting to get rid of their 07 inventory...... This week there was a add for a Radiant Red , Acc Cab, 4cyl, 6spd for $18K, naturally you could not read any of the other info as it was blurry.

I'm not following. They want to buy your truck back?!? And there's some sort of a scam where they will make money doing it?

I'm "official" now. I put the tacomaworld.com sticker on my truck yesterday!

(yeah, yeah, that's a rather lame way to boost my new member thread, but it's a Monday and I'm not very creative today)

sawdust, used Taco trucks sell very well here, as in most places, my dealer sent me a letter saying they would like me to sell my truck back to them. They want low mileage trucks and they want to sell off there inventory, in other words they want me to get rid of my relatively low mileage 06 and buy a new truck. They will only offer you what they can and I told them via email that I would sell my truck for 23K and to let me know if they wanted it.
Of course no dealer is going to pay you 23K for a used truck, the whole thing is just a way to get Taco buyers into the dealership to look at the new 08's and left over 07's. Thats why I called it a scam.

Aha. I see what you mean. I don't know that I would call it a scam, but it is a pretty transparent sales call. Frankly, I think the first time I'd consider selling my Taco is when 2011 (or 2012) rolls around and Toyota revamps it. I could imagine holding on to this one till it dies, but then again, there could be a "must have" feature in a newer one.

This thread has been sitting idle too long. I have a taco observation that's not worthy of it's own thread, so seems like a good excuse to stretch this one.

I've found that my Taco is encouraging better driving habits in me. In this cold weather we've been having (yeah, yeah, I know you got it worse up in Yankeeland, but 20 degrees is cold no matter where you are) I'm running the air in the floor/console position to warm up the truck. The vents are perfectly positioned to encourage me to keep my hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel to warm them up. My drivers ed instructor would be so happy to hear this.

I've noticed the same thing, that steering wheel gets cold and the vents are at the perfect position to keep your hands where tehy "should" be.

p.s. i got the last word again

Now that I know you do it, I'm going to have to change my ways. I'd rather have cold hands than have anything in common with you.

But you didn't roll it over to page 14. Slacker!

The "Quote of the Day" thread seems like it's not a place to add tangent discussion. (See there are limits to what I'm willing to hijack), but ndcouch's latest reminded me of a girl I dated in college.

At one point she claimed she had men figured out. With raised eyebrow I said "oh, really?" She replied that men want a woman to be a lady in public, their mom in the kitchen, and a whore in the bedroom. My jaw dropped and I said "yeah, that just about sums it up!"

I just scheduled my first (free) oil change with the dealer tomorrow. I mentioned the "harsh ride" and that some guys on the internet told me to ask them about a TSB. I'm taking the soft approach first step, but I'll find out tomorrow morning whether this will be a battle or not. I've got the TSB printed just in case.

Woohoo!! :bananadance: :bananadance: :bananadance: Page 14!

I'm in such a good mood about page 14, I'll even let that (my thread) crack slide.

Nope about the leaf spring TSB. I got the run-around, and when I had a guy from work drop me off to pick up the truck (when they concluded their "research" about the topic) I had to leave in a hurry to make it back to a meeting. So, I didn't really get to argue my case. It's on record now that I complained about it though. I expect to be doing some 800 dialing like in this thread soon. However, the wife caught the flu, so it may be a couple of weeks before life gets back to normal and I can tackle it.
