I just bought my first Tacoma a couple of months ago. 2010 access cab 4wd, 4L/V6. Only 16k miles on it at the time. The previous owner treated this thing like a baby and it was pretty much in brand new condition. I got a great deal on it, went through an auto broker via my credit union. It was so easy, I just told him the price range, make and model and he delivered to my house. Signed the paperwork and 20 minutes later I was done.

I love it so much and very happy with it. The only thing that gets me is no intermittent wipers. Here in the northwest we need them. I haven't got around to ordering them yet, the local Toyota dealership will not put them in. The other thing that gets on my nerves, and this is common, is the "ticking sound" with the heat on. I hear it's balancing issue with the fan. I am currently looking into fixing it myself, don't want to pay a dealership a bunch of money for this.

Now I got the "bug", looking for an older '80's Tacoma for a project. Maybe something I can take into the mountains and get dirty.

    Thanks for reading.

Wow you got the extended warranty? Lucky!! I'd let the dealer cover the ticking then. Why worry about it?

Congrats on the new truck. Mine is similar. But probably not as nice as yours. Mine is bottom of the barrel. (If you don't mind, may I ask the how much you got it for? Thinking of trading mine and wondering what I can possibly ask for it) If not, I can respect that. Thanks

I bought it for a little over 21K. I had a '99 Ford Ranger 4wd, 4L/v6 that I bought new, it only had 76K miles on it that I used as a trade in. The auto broker I went through gave me the best trade in value possible on that which brought the price of the Tacoma down even more. I called around to all the dealerships in the area to see if they could match it and they laughed at me. I love it how the dealerships still call me once in a while to see if I am happy with it and try to turn me on to a trade in for a brand new one.

I guess I am lucky that my credit union has this service. I shopped around for close to a year before the right one came along.

Wow you DID get a good deal! I was thinking of trading up but it's about 10k more than what I paid for my truck. I'm trying to justify the difference. It's hard because the truck is paid for and having to go to the bank to get that much seems kind of silly to get a TRD OR AC. The thing is, my sales guy is also my friend and they KNOW how much I paid for my truck so I know they will talk me down in trade value. Granted, my friend would do his best to get me the best deal but considering what I paid for my truck, I have a feeling they would deduct a lot. My truck has 8,500 miles on it.

    Babytruck,

I am no expert but take your time and be patient. It worked for me. Try to buy from private parties and avoid dealerships unless your friend can get you a great deal. Try not to fall in love with a certain vehicle, that is the biggest mistake you can make, a good salesman can see that.

Karma was on my side when I bought mine. When the time is right you will find yours also.
