I had a 99 for 7 years, it was absolutely perfect and I kept it in very good mechanical condition. That truck was stolen last month and this is my new one.

It’s was completely stock when I got it and this is what I’ve done so far.

    -3” bilstein lift
    -15” Procomp 7069s
    -33x12.5 falken Mts
    -flowmaster 40 series
    -single din Bluetooth pioneer stereo

The lift kit i got came with a pair of delrin spacers for the diff drop. Although I’m sure they would work fine, i decided to make some out of 6061 instead. Came up with a simple drawing in solid works (added about 250 thousands of thickness) and had them machined.

I have an alarm for the truck but I’m still debating weather or not to put it in. I really don’t like the idea of splicing into the clean untouched wiring harness. Suggestions as to how to be minimally invasive ?

Also I think it’s worth mentioning that I was able to install the new coilovers without separating the upper or lower ball joint. Just used a larger tire iron to pull down the UCA and that gave me enough space to slide the new coil over in. Took maybe 2hrs for both sides.

not sure I know what you mean by 2001 +?

I had a 99 but this is my new Tacoma which is an 04. Don’t know how to change my profile info.

Saw you skipped the whole shop thing and installed the kit yourself, super easy right?

Ball joints never have to be separated when installing coilovers and shocks on these trucks.

I didn’t realize that until yesterday. I would always take the 4 14mm’s out of the LBJs to get the coils in or out. This time just realized I probably didn’t need to do that and saved a lot of time!

Keep in mind, those bolts should only get torqued down so many times.

If it isn't the lower ball joints themselves that fail, it's the bolts holding them to the spindle.

Hmm that’s very interesting, I’ve never heard that before. Do you by what mode they fail? Might be worth looking into bolts of different ferrous alloy composition.
