I have a 2013 Double Cab long bed 4x4 Tacoma. And I started a new job today, I used google maps to find my way. Google said the trip would be 71 miles each way. When I got to work my odo was at exactly 80 miles. So 160 miles round trip. Seems like 18 miles a day is a little much to be off. Does anyone think I should contact my dealer.
Or would it just be a waste of time.

Your GPS is most likely less accurate than your odometer. Depending on how many turns you make on your commute, your GPS could be off over 10%.

What size tires are you running?

Personally I would be more inclined to believe an odometer over Google Maps.

A GPS would be more accurate than an odometer, but he isn't using one, he use Google map instead.
That being said, anything different than stock tires will throw the measurments off.

245/75 16 mean the height of the stock tires are (245*0.75)183.75mm + rim radius(8"*25.4)203.2mm = total radius 386.95mm, so the circumference is (386.95*2*3.1416)= 2431mm or 95"

Odo with stock tires is pretty accurate and speedometer is 3% fast. With bigger tires that make speedometer accurate then odometer is about 3% slow! Every 30 real miles, my odo reads 29 traveled.

Are your tires inflated correctly? Stock size?

Looks like the solution is to move 9 miles closer to your work.

I think I'll just move. Just seems like a lot 100 miles a week. 25,000 miles over 5 years just is crazy.

Compare GPS to Google Maps to physical mile markers to your odometer. Bet you'll come up with 4 different numbers.

Just to add fuel to the fire...

Just came back from a 800 mile road trip.
    4 door 4WD 2010 Automatic.
Has 265/75-16 tires (1" taller than stock).
Speedometer reads accurate or within 1 mph compared to the GPS. [With stock tires, it read too fast. (ie said 60 mph when going 58-57 mph).]
Odometer now reads less than actual travel by 3.3%, ie. for every 30 true miles driven, the odometer shows 29 miles driven.
Corrected for odometer error, my Arizona mileage was 17-18 MPG Highway (driving 70-80 mph). Tachometer was running about 2200-2300 RPM cruising.

Your problem is that the google maps estimate is only as accurate as the *MAP* that the estimate is being generated from. It is also subject to variations in route and any kind of road alterations made since the map was created.

I don't think he said that he was using distance measurements AFTER the drive (i.e., gps), but rather advanced estimate produced *in advance of* the actual drive.
