    My brand new Tacoma :(

On my way to work this morning on the freeway traffic comes to a stop, the car behind me comes to a stop, but the driver behind her doesn't brake at all pushing the car behind me into the back of mine. Her insurance is coming tomorrow to look at it. I drove the truck home and all seemed somewhat ok, but man this sucks! I had to special order her and it took 5 months for me to get it, only to be smashed into 4 months later with only 4k on her...all in all we we're all ok (all three drivers) and i'm glad for that, but i really hope my truck can come back 100%.

Wow, that is sucks!!!! I'm sorry.
Somebody hit my 4Runner on the parking lot today-needs new bumper. At least my wife and kids weren't there.
The person that hit it was very nice too, she left her info.

Your chassis is bent. It is now considered totaled. So you may be looking at a 2017.
If you can, I wouldn't drive it anymore. The less miles it has, the more you can
prove that its brand new. I hope all gets squared away.

Underside pictures do not look good at all, sorry...

I would seriously start contacting dealers right now and getting in line for another manual transmission 4x4 OR.

Assume this will be totaled and start taking your necessary steps now to get the most money out of it.

I work in a body shop and we had a '16 limited come in that had a left front hit, not really all that bad either. Long story short, it totaled. Insurance company wrote an estimate for a new frame and that did it. I've seen a two year old Frontier hold a frame job before, so it really surprised me. Maybe it was a case of unavailability of the frame due to the truck still being on the assembly line? Working parts in the body shop industry I've found that manufacturers won't pull big ticket parts off the assembly line for wholesale purchase, things like frames, cabs, whole engine wiring assemblies. It's possible that yours will be okay considering that the '16 is nearing the end of its build cycle.

Toyota goes from a Pick-up/Hilux that can survive a fall from a demolishing skyscraper to a water down mall truck that can't survive a fender bender. Oh how times have changed.

I really really really really hope it doesn't get totaled...I haven't put gap insurance on it yet as I was going to be changing my loan over to my credit union before that. If it totals i'm probably going to get screwed bad money wise...welp time to bust out the neck brace I guess. Thanks for the responses guys, I will definitely keep everyone updated.

The thing is, vehicles thes days are designed to do that in order to take the brunt of the impact away from the driver. I understand what you're saying, but it's actually a good thing for the unfortunate driver/owner. Look at the lengths NASCAR has gone to keep their drivers safe, things have changed a lot over the years both on and off the track to keep ALL vehicle operators safe.

How so. Your situations couldn't even be compared. Both trucks survived. both are working. Insurance totaling it has nothing to do with either truck surviving a wreck.

    at least you're fine.

i would insist that it gets written off because your resale just took a big hit if they make you fix it.

You may have a point there but the truth is the frames on these current trucks can be compromised by the slightest damage.

Literally the strongest frame equipped in a mid sized Toyota pickup. It's a damn near part for part carry over from a 2nd WITH high strength steel reinforcement.

You are pulling it from your ass.
