does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Better the frame absorbs the hit than your body.

The same hight strength steel that rusts inside out after 3 winters in the snowbelt? These frames need to be fully boxed liked the Hilux to maintain some sort of durability.

And your lose you flex and 4 wheeling is compromised. As far as the frame goes, I'm not aware of any recall for them in the last 8 years.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
Do you recall if gap was offered in the with the loan? When I bought mine I got it with the loan instead of through my insurance.

I posted earlier that I was going to go with gap when I transfer my loan next month...so I don't have gap, lesson learned if it comes out totaled.

Slightest? We have no idea how hard exactly he was hit other than the other driver didnt brake at all. So. One stopped vehicle gets hit by one moving at 65mph? Thats alot of force going into the rear bumper and frame.

Again, they design for safety. Id rather be safe and have a vehicle total than send all the impact into the cab. People think driving a 1950 Buick makes you safe. I'd rather take a front impact at 50mph in a new GTI than the buick.

Just because shit didnt bend doesnt make it good. That force of the vehicle behind you have to go somewhere. Metal that doesnt absorb it, likely amplifies it.

The recall information is on the 1st page of the 2nd gen forum

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/frame-rust-recall.263311/

I'd rather sacrifice some flex then have my car totalled out after fender bender.

OP there is no way your frame hasn't been compromised looking at that. I would fight seriously for a total and build the truck you want again. After an accident like that a) truck will never quite be the same b) resale will take a hit. May suck to be out a truck for a bit but worth it long term, just my 2 cents. Good luck, still sucks.

I'd rather my car be totalled than have a wreck on the vehicle history. It is after all just a toyota.

That frame is definetly out of spec now. They might be able to repair the frame but if not I suspect a total

These frames really make me consider not buying a Tacoma. It's just a basic C frame. I get that because it's less ridgid it's suppose to be better off-road. However almost everything else now a days if fully boxed. My f150 makes a Tacoma frame look like it's off a homemade golf cart or something. My old frontier even had a boxed frame. Let's not get into the rust issues either...

Bahahaaha, you must be new to these trucks, drive by any toyota dealer, you'll see a few frames out back. Toyota was buying trucks back, reframing them, recoating them, you name it.

Last recall I can find is 07 or 08. Nothing has been recalled in 8-9 years.

    None, but willing to learn.
I had a 2015 Corolla that was totaled in a wreck. Car turned left in front of my daughter and didn't make it. All airbags deployed and tore the front bumper off. Looked salvageable but the air bag deployment put it in totaled category. Less than 5000 miles on it. Got a check for full purchase price less my deductible. Got 70% of my deductible back after 6 months. Will get last $150 when they settle with the other driver's insurance. Ended up buying the same car for same price. So right now I'm only out $150. Taxes transferred to new car. Insurance premium hasn't increased due to accident either.

Hope it all works out for you.

Someone posted a 2015 that had wicked rust already. Can't remember exactly what thread but it was surprising.

That's a crappy situation then. But regardless of rust, it's a coating issue. What we're talking about is brand new truck that probably hasn't even seen snow or even rain yet. It doesn't change the fact that it's the strongest frame under a mid size toyota. You cannot expect this thing to take the punch of a 1 ton truck.

Yeah the inconvenience is getting a 4x4 MT OR in the color you want in a reasonable amount of time. Not a big deal if you have another vehicle but if the tacoma was your only vehicle you are in a little bit of a pickle.
