    Yep. That's how the game is played. It's all a racket and everybody takes their cut. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

    Where do you live that requires 1 million in insurance for a non commercial $30,000 truck?

    I think he might be combining liability and comprehensive coverage amounts.

    And in which case it's "up to" 500k for each, totaling 1mil in his eyes.

    I had a truck totaled that was not my fault. Someone crossed the median and hit me head on. Long story short. I used my insurance to pay me an agreed upon amount. They in turn collected from the other guys insurance. No effect on my future premiums.

    +20 years ago. had a hit my vehicle. She ran a light. I got my vehicle repaired and doctor bills paid by her insurance. While I notified my insurance of the accident. I decided just to work with her insurance. It turned out ok.

    Canada.
    And I didn't say it WAS a million. I said it was something stupid LIKE a million. I'm not interested in looking up a precise figure for everything.

    Now the fun really starts when you start looking at insurance carriers here, many don't OFFER a policy of under TWO million.

    No kidding. Our incompetent governments keep campaigning on "lowering insurance rates", and the end result is invariably HIGHER rates because they legislate the crap out of it and eliminate competition.

    Get a lawyer. The insurance company may decide it's cheaper to get you a new truck than the cost of litigation.

    To add to my own post;

    Here is one absolutely AWESOME thing that insurance companies do to have increased rates; they use TWO databases for looking up drivers' histories. One of these is the provincial driving record. This database is controlled by the courts. You get tagged with an infraction by a cop, you have the right to a trial and to face your accuser and work it out sensibly in front of a judge. THEN they have the SECOND database, which is a private database controlled *BY* the insurance companies. THIS database gets added to on the whim of anyone in ANY insurance company, including the one of the clown who HIT YOU, and there is absolutely NO way to get things cleared from that database. This crazy situation leads to things like this happening;
    - cop accuses you of (something bad).
    - you go to court and judge effectively gives the middle finger to the cop.
    - driving record is absolutely clear.
    - insurance chooses not to believe the judge and slaps something on the insurance database deeming you "high risk".

    Yea, the remaining insurance carriers are getting rich and laughing their ass off. That really sucks man.

    I would say move, but there's no where to go but south.

    At least it's warm down here. Supposed to be about 105F today with the chill factor.

    You know, I could walk into a Florida DMV and they'll give me a Florida license right there on the spot. I actually have a property down there. Its something thats been on the back of my mind for a while. Only problem though, is if some dipsh** cop up here wants to give me a hard time, I'd have to come up with some way to prove that I actually live THERE, or it'll end up becoming a big problem.

    Sometimes, the chinese aftermarket part is actually the same OEM part from the same factory.

    That doesn't make it mandatory. That is between you and your bank.
