I always lived by a simple philosophy which is, don't worry about things that you have no control over, but this thread like so many others just like it, just goes to show again just how many people on this forum that are so full enough of themselves, that they could make at least 5 other people completely full of themselves, and still have plenty left over.

My first lift on my 11 I too ran spacer's all I could afford at the time, but then I saved some more and bought some coilovers and an AAL before like you adding another $1-2k in other things.Which is what I was having a hard time getting.

Far from. Like I said I appreciate the build and looks sweeter than my truck. Mine isn't even lifted. Just curious as to the thought process behind spending $2k on cosmetic mods and $300 on your lift. Just healthy discussion bud on an enthusiast forum, just observations, not worried or judging. No one here walks out and says "spacer lift, pssh"

Understandable. But if I owned a 3rd gen, which I never will btw I would rather have a good looking truck at first and skip on a good off road suspension until later. Think of the horror that would come out of a totally new 3rd gen driver trying his hand at true off roading, he or she would be all over the place, could mess up the groups line etc, would rather have them on the street showing off how cool the 3rd gen body looks then messing up my off road experience getting stuck every 5 min lol Now mind you, I have gotten stuck on more than one occasion, but that's because I'm 2wd, at least I have a true lsd.

Aren't they specifically for vibrations and not lift?

They like all the gee whiz tech stuff and keeping it all purdy, they may tow a bit, and may travel in it a bit. And there is nothing wrong with that. The stock truck with upgraded tires that fit make it very capable in many conditions and still keep it comfy.

But they want to look like a bad boy. So the correct term is poseur.

Only their automotive peer group think their rides look tough. Actual off road types look and know its a soccer dad model.

That is unless you are one of the 8 people like @Unchained 5150, who actually build it right, even if they don't use it hard.

It's why I have a 5 lug. It does what I want just fine. Even prerunner owners turn up their noses at me. :D

BTW, don't just pick on the 3rd gen crew on this topic. Same thing happens in all gens, and even worse, with the 5 lug crowd.

No shit. See it all the time.
I'd take properly set up suspension on an otherwise bone stock bike any day, over a any kind of engine performance. What good is all that power if you can't get it to the ground?

I am a newb and never really understood the difference. I do now after reading plenty on this forum and getting my truck in the dirt finally.
We all get stuck. But at least ours doesn't get stuck as much as heeps do.
My plan is to buy a decent lift. Billies and possibly 881 to 887 coils pending if I ad bumpers or not. I only added cheap faux slider to prevent ASSHOLES from door dining the cap out my truck. So I am new and trying things out. Seems like we all have money to waste. :kona:

It's the same with autocross. Many a sneered at Miata has handed big power cars (not even in their class) their butts because of good suspension, tires and driver. Me being one of those for a few years. As the conceptual creator of the Miata said, if you can't go fast with 90 hp, 900 won't help.
