My Registration is to high?

Keep in mind that some of the states who have low registration pay all the fees up front. In florida for example, when you buy a vehicle you have to pay a large sum up front based on the value of the vehicle and you only pay a tag fee each year.

Other states spread the "ad volorem" tax over time.

We pay a lot because we live in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia, the socialist state. One thing we don't have is a mandatory state vehicle inspection. We get those on the spot and for free every time get pulled over by the California Highway patrol.

Yes, it is true that our liberal legislators would try to extract yet more money from us without decreasing spending. At the risk of significantly getting off topic here, California spends more on the state penal system than it does on higher education. Wow. Imagine that!
