It's a little late in the game for it at this point, but thinking of a way to have a practical RTT would be nice.

Imo, the typical Rtts are anything but practical. Heavy, horrible for cog, horrible for gas mileage, horrible for clearance, easy storage of bedding claims are fully offset by the fact that you just wasted a ton of storage space. You get thumbs up from people who think Jeeps are the only thing that can 4 wheel, that's about it. Just not for me, but work for many others obviously.
    :D

I'm thinking about trying to think up something along the lines of a backpacking tent rtt. I only need to sleep in it, not host a whole high school dance party.

Something small that would flip off the side of the truck or to the front so it didn't take up much roof rack real estate.

Any ideas of something to start with? Last thing i need is another project, but if it gets me a comfy place to sleep...

Sleep under the truck. Do you have any sound deadener in your truck? Ive noticed after pulling my seats and rear storage its incredibly loud now. I know you have some stuff pulled, just dont know how much

Only the rear driver's side seat so far. The rest of it will come out when i get a chance to work on it.

Ordered the first one, then saw the dimensions were crazy, so i ordered a different one. But the first one was including the folding handle.. so it's a toss up which will stay since they seem pretty similar

Complete seat and organizer removal. I have an idea for storage. Brandon just has all the tools I need. Noone sits in my back seat. So I took them out to see how much room I could get. Its kind of crazy how much you get with all that crap out.

Similar... i think. I'll check them out tonight.

I'll probably build something for the back and probably just a flat surface on the bottom. Hopefully enough to kill some sound.

If you're free this weekend, I'll probably be working on a ton of stuff. So feel free to come up and work on that. I've got a decent variety of plywood even have some cabinet drawers and slides.

And yeah, i realized the seats waste so much space, they need to go.

Yeah, it's expensive and just makes me buy more special (expensive) bags since they are the cool thing to do.

I was thinking of some sort of similar panel to go on the ceiling though...

Unfortunately, One of my war buddies is coming out this weekend. Jake is doing some stuff on his truck Friday and maybe saturday if hes slow. I do want to incorporate a slide out portion of it, Something I can lock for long things that go boom.

Ive seen that before. I will be doing something like that but more useful.

Ive got molle bags out the ass due to my previous career, theyd be good to store small items but I think theyd end up being more of a hassle than anything. Ive also thought of something like that on the ceiling. Or a tough Cargo net of sorts.

Comms seem to be the projects to tackle lately, so for tonight's project, installing the new HAM antenna.

    Browning BR-180 antenna
    Browning cable

But I needed a mount. I wanted a fold over one, but was unable to find much online that wasn't crazy expensive.

Thankfully I have a box of random old mounts from stuff, put two together, a little cutting, bending, and grinding and voila!

    0509172105.jpg

Cut apart a sway bar mount bushing and zip tied it to the rack temporarily and the top of the antenna sits in there to keep it from rattling against the crossbars when its down.
    0509172121.jpg

    Not bad!

Removed the passenger rear seat bottom to get to the cable easier.... and it is not going back in. It begins!
