I have, each has their own pros and cons for sure. One thing I like with the rogue is I don’t have to have it bolted to the floor to bend a long piece.

thats a big deal to me too and why I am leaning that way. Then I can take it from my shop to my friends or my garage at home without needing to bring a drill and anchors.

I have million and one questions about everything engine and transmission related… Love to see the motor mounts, where the engine sets from the fire wall and where the shifter is in the cab

Now hopefully I have your attention! Looking for a little side work like installing a new LT L84 with a Tremec in a reg. cab 5 lug? :spending:

Trust me I’ve been looking at your photos and your a man of many talents… :hattip:

thats how I had to do the shifter to get it to locate back where I wanted it. Granted this is also a corvette trans so it’s using a different shifter hole than a lot of others normally do. I’ll have to find the firewall clearance pictures I took that I meant to post.

Ok, I highly doubt it but would you remember the distance from the front of the bell housing to the center of the shifter? Then I’m only guessing that the shifter could be back another 5 inches give or take?
Thanks so much for your help! I’m getting really close to purchasing an aluminum 5.3 LM4. I would like the Nissan CDOOA or a Tremec TKX 5 speed. The Nissan 6 speed has about the same low and high gear as the Toyota R-155 but with one more gear. I could put the 3.31 in with the Nissan trans or do a 3.58 with the Tremec as it has a taller 1st. & 5th gear. The R-155 has a .81 5th. and the Tremec has a .72 5th.
    *Edit* I found a TKO w/ .68 5th. So with my rubber size, the 3.73 gear & the .68 OD 5th. gear the engine will be right at 2100 RPM’s @ 70 MPH…

:hattip: I found a complete pull out 2004 LM4 with 144k miles for $800 and it doesn’t have the VVT / AFM so the valve train should be in good condition. But I will have to go through the upper end for safety & maintenance. God this would be my bucket list. *update* purchased an New Old Stock TKO wide ratio 5 speed & a Aluminum 5.3 L33 and it’s been refreshed, updated and upgraded. Now looking for an TBSS or LS6 manifold!

I don’t, I do know that where the tr6060 shifter is was about 4-5 inches forward of the factory shifter so I had to make a super funky shift lever.

Ok Thanks! Do you remember if the back of the LS engine/front of the bell housing is in the same approx location? Or is the LS forward or back of the stock engine location? Sorry but before I try to do this swap I’m going to be sure the manual shifter is in the correct stock location. If I can’t get one of these transmission shifters in the stock location then I’m going to pass. I’m not going to do what Torspd had to do with what I think was a T-56 trans. Want to keep it as stock looking as possible & quiet as possible. I also understand the stock R-155 trans for the 2TR is 22 5/8" from Bell Housing to center of the shifter, but it is an inline 4 versus a V6 or 8.
Also I really like that your custom oil pan has the sump behind the cross member. I think that’s what I’m seeing?
I really do appreciate your information.

No I moved the ls as far back as possible due to radiator clearance, which definitely helped some with the shifter, but the other problem you run into is a rear sump is the only way to go to clear the crossmember( or a dry sump…$$$). And you run into the issue of where the oil filter is located runs into the front diff so you have to do a relocation on it and my fittings are still pretty close to the front diff input flange.

THANKS I really really appreciate your help more than you know‼️

Being I don’t have the proper tools and I’m lacking on the skills and abilities. So paying someone else to do the work is really adding up very quickly. I had a shop lined up but apparently they can’t keep employees for more than a few months at a time. Plus I stopped into the shop the other day and the owner had the crap beat out of him.(His face was black & blue and he could barely get out of a chair to walk) So joking around I asked the owner how’s the other guy look? His comment was it was from an ex-employee. Saying to myself, What!? So I tried to change the subject and asked about a Colorado that was in the shop for an LS swap, he said the owner took it to another shop. Ok this place is out!
Now I’ve been on FB Marketplace daily looking for an engine and just to find out 80% or more are just scammers and the rest is just junk laying out in the rain. Wanting me to purchase a to good to be true then they say they will ship. I ask where’s the warehouse I can pick up the engine. Then they come with some type of excuse.
Now I found someone who I think can do the install but he’s now making me nervous and he’s a 4 hour drive away. This is starting to look like it’s not going to happen.
    :sadviolin:
I need a stiff drink and :help:

Yeah it’s always hard finding a shop to get this kind of work done…not to mention the expense. Luckily I had access to a shop and a couple months to play around with it myself. Looking back I went a very expensive route going with an aluminum 6.2 and a tr6060, their definitely are cheaper ways if you can source a decent 5.3 and a 4l80 with a transfer case. But as far as compatible manuals with 4wd the list is pretty short unless you do a housing adapter and a custom flywheel.

Thanks and will do. I think this is the shop who installed an LS in a friend of mine Jeep, I’ll call a ask him.
His wife came into some money when a tool an surgeon was using malfunction in surgery. The surgeon even paid for the attorney to help them take the manufacture to court.

    Hmmm,
Mine should be the easiest has its a lightly lowered 5 lug regular cab, no 4x4 drive train or automatic transmission.
Oh, wanting an aluminum 5.3 with a 5 speed TKX behind it. I have a TrueTrac for the rear diff setting in a box.
I absolutely don’t care for autos I’ve always been a roll your own guy. The longest I’ve owned and automatic was 6 months and it was a DCSB pre-runner and I should have just pulled the auto and had a manual installed!

An GM shop right at University & Dobson beside the car wash.
