SCS f5's with 33" Ridge Grapplers. 20" S8 mounted in bumper, squadron sport fog lights, squadron pro backup lights, LP6's bumper mounted.
oh yeah if your not 4x4 than that should be easy, a normal t56 has a much further back shift position. Mine was just so far forwards because it’s a tr6060 from a corvette to allow for easily making a transfer case adapter.

I was thinking a Tremec TKX 5 speed. The issue with the 6 speeds is the double over drives are just to tall, then 1st gear & Reverse are also tall.
With the TKX I want with it’s .72 over drive and the 27.65” rubber with 3.58 gear the engine will be turning 2035 RPM = 65 mph, 2350 RPM = 75 mph. I thought that would be good cruising RPM’s.

Yeah the double overdrive on my tr6060 basically makes 6th gear unusable. But rehearing to 5.29’s has made everything else work really well together. Only downside to the tkx is probably lower torque capacity but if your planning on keeping a stock 5.3 than it shouldn’t ever come into play.

    Hmmm,
I highly doubt I would be putting out over 600 ft/lbs of torque from a 5.3 or even a 5.7.
I really do appreciate your help and maybe someday we can meet so I can buy you a beverage of your choice. As a matter of fact I owe a few here an beverage of their choice as everyone is so helpful!
    Thanks again for your information!

hell ya! Not sure what day I’m going, last year I was a day late dealing with truck stuff at my buddies shop trying to finish up my cage install. Only mounting a one piece front end this time so hopefully will go more smoothly.

Absolutely! I’m East of Phoenix in NE. Mesa. I will DM you my cell number. Should come down when Barrett Jackson in town.
It’s incredible you can’t see all the cars in two days. Plus it’s a BIG father daughter get together if you get my drift… :D Oh and make sure to bring your dark sunglasses there some hot daughters…
Oh, just purchased a New old stock Tremec TKO 5 spd w/ a .68 overdrive. It has about 4 or more different locations the shifter can go in. So hopefully the shifter will be where it belongs.
Plus I’m pretty sure I’m going to be pulling off the Magnuson supercharger from the 07 reg. cab and selling it. The LS is hopefully going in the 05 reg. cab.

nice, yeah I made it down before the TT race last year but then spent the whole tt race trying to finish wiring in my switch pros….lmao. But I should be there all week or so. There’s a bunch of guys that would be cool to meet up with down there.

hahaha.. I know the feeling. 2 years ago I spent the afternoon replacing a blown CV during the race. Still had a blast. We'll definitely keep in touch as it gets closer.. and I'm sure there are a few guys we could meet up with. Ran into some last year.. just hard to coordinate out there.

We're lucky enough to have family friends who have a house within driving distance of Hammertown.. So we cruise back and forth across the lake beds and dunes to the races. Might have to set up a meet spot one day just in case there's no service or anything.

yeah that’s sick, one of my buddies knows someone who has a house out in that area across the lake bed, was cool to go out there last year for a minute.

Figured I would see if you had a build thread instead of clogging the Lt thread with engine talk, then realized I've posted in here before.

I'm trying to find a decent lq9 but they have been hard to come by locally. A couple solid ly6 around that im thinking could be a good option, but I would have to recam or figure out the vvt. but like I said, I don't know a lot about LS's at this point. Still lots to learn. Aiming for around 500hp ideally.

Also curious about your front suspension setup

man too bad you didn’t have time to swing by to grab that oil pan….woulda been great to talk…oh well. Yeah vvt is easy to deal with, just change the cam and tune it out with hptuners. Yeah being in Canada seems like it makes it harder with parts and what not. But like I ordered valve covers/fuel rails/intake manifolds off Amazon. And summit racing became my friend.

But either option should give you a good base to start with, just know you’re adding a decent amount of weight in an iron block. I think even an aluminum block is 30 lbs more than the 1grfe.

    @tacotunner06 I couldn’t have said it better..

I too I’m curious why an iron block? Save money? Just FYI the iron block is just over 100 lbs heavier than the aluminum block. Plus I’m guessing you have extra weight of a 4x4 system and extra armor. My advice is to save your money because the parts add up quickly very quickly. I’m second guessing myself now, but this will hopefully be in the front someday.

Just go LS3. Ironblock V8 plus winch, armor, front diff is way too much weight for the front of a taco to enjoy off-road, imho

All good advices, thank you, I was wondering about the weight, but the LS3 and other aluminum blocks are super hard to find around here, and very expensive when you do. Obviously preferred though. I thought that the ironblock LS were roughly similar to the 1gr-fe, but I guess that I was probably comparing fully dressed weight of the 1gr to just the motor of the ls. Hard to find real weights.

@Hayrider are you saying to save money and not bother with the swap? I don't think that's an option anymore after riding with the JD guys

@tacotunner06 Which oilpan is that? I will likely be at KOH for the last few days for my first time next year. Sounds like you might be around? Would be stoked to meet up!
