Half the guys on here admitted that they saw no real difference in temp with different stats, the car drove fine, shifted fine, etc..

The guys that were convinced the jiggle ball position mattered were also still wondering If air transfers heat as well as liquid..

Yes the little hole will let coolant into the block while filling but that is not all you have to rely on to get the air pockets out and the coolant in. Use The Spill free funnel and pull a heater hose or one of the small hoses that goes to the throttle body. This offers a heater hose sized path for air to bleed out while filling. Start filling, when coolant comes out of the heater hose clamp it back on, start the engine, leave the stopper out of the funnel and run the engine for a couple minutes with the spill free funnel still on the radiator. Some bubbles May burp out for a few minutes then put the stopper in, raise the engine off idle and stand there with your hand on the radiator or just behind the fan where you can feel the air blowing across the radiator. When the thermostat opens you will feel the air change from cold to warm, that's your cue that the thermostat opened. pull the stopper, whatever air pockets are left in the engine should burp out at this time, add coolant as needed and cap it off.

Basically I'm saying you don't have to rely on the jiggle valve to get the air bubbles out, the spill free funnel works great, and you can leave it on while the engine warms up. I'm grabbing radiator hoses, fiddling with the heater, etc.. it basically buys you time to babysit the engine while it warms up and you can keep pulling the stopper and checking to see if more bubbles burp out over time
