My truck was stolen late last night sometime between 11:00pm and 1:30am 12/15. The truck was parked Downtown Reno in a parking lot on the corner of Seminary and 2nd by the Sands Casino. I called the police when I returned to where my car should have been. No tow yards have it and I have a case number already. I have insurance, but I have no idea how this is going to play out.

That sucks man. You poor taco is probably scared somewhere. Hopefully it was just some joy riders and you will get it back only slightly scathed and easily returned to normal.

Someone has to have heard a tow truck or something...

You can't hot wire (or any other means of forcing the motor to start i think) the 2nd gens because of the immobilizer.

Don't want to derail this thread but just had to share. When I had my Ram (Hemi) went to get new tires, the kid at Kauffman pulled it around the building, took off nice and easy while in my view until he got around the building. I had a Magnaflow dumped, he of course had to romp on it. To make it worse there is a brick wall behind the building where he was going. It was loud and I heard him from inside the building. It kinda pissed me off but then again I never got to hear it from the other side since I don't let people drive my stuff. It sounded mean so I was like  and :woot::devil: at the same time.

OP has a 4cylinder. I don't know if some 4cylinders have the immobilizer, but I know not all of them do.

Tow truck is an easy way to steal a car. As long as the owner doesn't catch you in the act, it all looks legit to someone walking by.

OP, while I do hope they catch the thief, you might not want it back. My dad had his 4runner stolen way back in 1988. They beat the crap out of it. It was found three weeks later up a jeep trail high centered on a rock with all the windows broken out of it. They took a crowbar to the dash trying to remove the stereo and destroyed the entire left bedside. The insurance company was paying for a rental car for 30 days while they waited to pay out for another truck. Since they found it and it was nearly new and not damaged enough to total it, they fixed it. It never was the same. Mechanically it was fine, but the body and paint never was quite right.

Hate to say it, but it's probably best if it just disappears and you get to start over. Unless it's found around the corner parked safely and just missing the change from the ashtray. That's happened before too.

    Good luck.
