Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
    Do they sell just the manifold anywhere or do u have to buy the kit to get it?

    I found the supplier on Alibaba so no need to deal with that OZBoost crap. Link above gets you the manifold, downpipe and a valve cover mounted intercooler plus piping. Turbo and misc parts included as well but those should probably go straight into the trash. Otherwise at that price (minimum order only one set!) this is an excellent baseline kit. Word to the wise, some fabrication and tuning definitely still required:
    I didn't see the MAF location in the pics so it will likely need to be changed. My truck already has a hood scoop and I find the idea to make it functional with the intercooler mounted right under it pretty neat. Of course not as efficient as mounting it in front of the radiator but should be plenty fine for low boost if not more than say 6psi.
    So in all this could be a great DIY kit for under 2 grand even after ditching the junk turbo and buying a Garrett and Map ECU 3 for tuning.

    I import on the side. I've been talking with them for a couple months now, to make a better kit. As it currently stands, stainless steel components and air to water cooling. They want minimum 10 order though. I may be offering a kit in the coming months.

    Please elaborate! Is that 10 minimum for the "better" kit? What makes it better anyway? Cuz I just want the one I linked where it says minimum order is 1. Around $700 for a base and I'm prepared to improve piping and fittings etc here and there.

    Better, meaning 304ss vice mild steel. Also, air to water intercooler vice just air, so much easier to route. I'm sure the pump will be trash though. Possibly same price.


    For those not familiar with importing directly from China, air delivery is much less complicated than by ocean but hella expensive. That $750 kit will probably carry a $350 shipping cost. Importing in bulk will require an import broker, with an import bond, and must file import security paperwork with US Customs (Homeland Security). ANY mistake or incomplete data on the security paperwork has a MINIMUM fine of $5000, regardless of the value of the item(s) being imported.

    Hey @KirkRio, I'm starting my build now and referencing a lot of your work in my process- I just had a few questions

    1) Are you still running the original turbo with Garrett internals, or did you move up?
    2) What fueling are you running, injector-wise and where'd you find them lol.
    3) What current boost level are you at?

    I've ordered the manifold and downpipe direct from the OzBoost supplier, and don't mind changing flanges or adding more exhaust piping to accommodate the size difference if flange adapters are used. I also have an AEM FIC6 for tuning, which I should be installing this weekend.
    With that said, I'm considering a gt3071r as it's fairly close to the 2871r and has no internal gate...what are your thoughts?

    Hi Kirk,

    Willing to share MAPECU3 base file? Used Ozboost kit, per you, only manifold/dump tube of use. Boosted 2TR via GT28, only fuel mod is pressure bump & Walbro 190 lpm FP. Tune shop dyno'ed/AFRed. At 6.5 psi, tad lean 3,500 - 4,400 rpm, then 4,400 - 5,000+ rpm ECU adds too much. Plan is MAPECU3, shop to tune it. Shop leery of piggyback. Since URD/you use, givin’ it a go. Boosted 2TR rocks!

    Well, my "shade tree mechanic" turbo mod was done in 2015, 16k mi ago.

    KirkRio inspired me to get ECU mods done/right. Thinking URD-type MAF calibrator would be fine for 5-6 psi, but MAPECU3 will be much better. RWHP now is 185 (6.5 psi), so prob another 10-20 HP to be had just with proper tune, and maybe then safe to bump 1-2 more psi!. Really happy with truck at 185 RWHP, though.
