the rubber jacket around a charging cord would melt long before the console plastics. Maybe one of the fancy new braided metal charging cables?

Yeah I just looked at it again and honestly I'm not sure. I have seen similar burn lines from a laser but this would take ages for someone to do so I don't know. I bet it will turn out to be something really odd that will also make sense at the same time. This may remain one of life's great mysteries...

Looks to me like they all angle toward the 12v outlets and usb ports. The space between the Ebrake handle and the console is perfect resting place for my phone and thats were it rides. I agree with the "hot charging cable" theories. Depending on which direction my phone is laid in the "slot" my charging cable takes similar paths as the marks. Anyway thats my theory

Sunlight refracted through a water bottle can be hot enough to melt plastic.

Why wouldn't the water bottle explode if it got that hot..? Would it not be boiling,??

when you use a magnifying glass to burn paper with sunlight, the glass itself doesn't heat up much at all...the focal point does

Its looks like melting caused by a chemical reaction. This happens to me when I mix two types of plastic worms together and they will melt into one another, no heat necessary. I am guessing someone set down some sort of plastic cord or something that had a chemical on it that caused melting.

OMG the suspense is killing me. I'm Sub'd! Some of your explanations are so good. I have burnt myself with a cage on a shop light with a 100w bulb in it and left singe marks. Some are making me piss my pants laughing. Trust me, no one with a laser mounted to drone is doing this.

If it only happened once after a dealer visit that would be the end of it. I would simply offer that someone had a rag with some sort of petroleum or solvent on it and laid it over some sort of cord that shorted out and fried. But no way would you not notice that. No one is that oblivious. I think you'd smell it too.

The amazing fact that this happened four or more times, and that the last set of marks were after the dealer visit is freaking me out! I mean right? Or did I read that last description of the timeline wrong? Huh!? One set appears two hours later after a drive?! That's some X Files stuff there.

No sun roof. Nothing reflective inside or outside of the vehicle. No harsh chemicals being used yet there is definite staining on some of the plastic, almost a bleached effect.

Like I said, I'm sub'd but the OP might want to just go out and get a priest because, this truck is freaking possessed!

I literally just said that! Well, was typing it while you said it. But and I'm in on that reason, but, multiple times? How?

It's a focused light reflection burn-in. Now just have to find out the source.
The way the lines conture around the console, the missing gap in marks on all the shiny stuff, etc.

The hole in this theory is the change in material that was marked. :infantry:The shift boot is most definately not the same type of plastic as the consol. :infantry:Damaged happend at different times, locations, and while NOT being serviced; therefore the chemical burn would have to be a regular use item for OP.

Seems HIGHLY unlikely at best. My bet will stay with a focused photo-reflective raction. :notsure:
