Got mine installed today and it works amazingly!! I couldn't be happier! Using the phone to know when the car is locked and unlocked is my favorite feature. I just wish now it would alert me if someone was trying to break in but otherwise the remote start is god send! Thank you!

Got my cellular module installed tonight. Took about 10 minutes to program/sync. Nice to play with.

This was sent to me from a customer here @doublethebass ...and no, he doesn’t live at the North Pole. Thankful for the N2 kit installed just in time...the “F” no longer stands for “Fahrenheit”. Where the heck do some of you folks live...this is a sample of what hell is like. Because it has frozen over. Over you AND your damn Tacoma!

But question, what warms up the N2 unit before it warms up your truck hahaha...that’s cold dude!

I currently have a remote start kit but the biggest thing I hate is how the motor cuts out when the door us opened. Does this kit behave the same way?

    That’s a Toyota thing.
Yes it will still do it with this kit.

Finally installed remote start plus the smart module. I used the first YouTube video for the remote start install and it went flawless. Had issues with the smart module.

Used the second YouTube video for the smart install and got confused somehow with the harness. I think it had to do with unplugging the first “power line” into the remote start. Fixed that problem and programmed the smart module. Then I installed the app and got it set up and set the protocol to Fortin because that’s what it has in the instructions multiple times. The app wouldn’t work even though the GPS showed up clearly. I watched the smart module trouble shooting video and set the protocol to ADS. Everything worked perfectly after that.

Only other problem I had was reinstalling the lower kick panel. That dumb clip wouldn’t go in for me at first and now I have white stress marks on the other side of the panel.

Overall, if I set the protocol to ADS rather than Fortin and didn’t follow the directions, it would have saved me easily 30-45 mins. I’d say roughly a 30 minute install for both if you do everything correct.

Special note: I don’t like electrical stuff

I finally got around to installing the remote start in my truck and couldn't be happier with the results. Watched the video a couple of times and it was straight forward and helpful. I had a question and sent jimmy a pm and he responded within an hour which was a nice.

Setting it to ADS protocol is not technically what fixed your problem, when you change the protocol, the unit reboots, when I’m guiding some folks on the phone, I tell them to unplug the power connector (4-pin Black connector with tab at the top that snaps into the black female next to the blue to blue already-connected-for-you-connectors on the smart module as this achieves the same results. The ADS protocol isn’t the correct one although it can get most of the feedback, it will not give you the engine run down timer. And I don’t think you’ll be able to start the vehicle more than once with ADS but I could be wrong...

I haven’t been able to start it more than once. Have to keep switching protocols.

The only issue I’m getting is I don’t get a countdown timer. I’ve started at least 5 times with the smart app though. I’ll try your fix as soon as I have time to fool with it again.

Yup, timer will not feed through for sure. I also believe door lock status might not so be accurate if your using ADS, so be sure to check this so you are NOT fooled into thinking your vehicle is locked when in reality it is NOT!

I’d say take a moment and say a prayer for the folks about to be hit with the cold arctic vortex, but that’s pretty much all of you, so I’ll be prayin for you all...pretty much alone unless some Miami residents wanna join me...no seriously this will be bad. Wind chills in the Midwest and Great Lakes area of -45 to -60.

It’s not cold until the river water is warmer than the air and starts steaming...

You wish it was only that cold, thier skin isn’t blue and their eyes are still open, they’re pretty much outside and alive, that’s a toasty warm picture compared to what’s coming Wednesday is you ask me!

I’d lick a frozen pole for you all if it meant this thing wouldn’t happen...as much as I joke, lives will be lost, and my heart breaks for the homeless folks across our nation. May they find shelter...

If anyone has any charities that will be helping these homeless folks let me know, I’d like to donate.

Sleep in your Tacoma with the heater running and you’ve got more blessings than the ones without shelter. Sell your remote starter and you won’t need my charity Antoin!

To the gentlemen with the smart modules that seem grayed out when on the command screen (I.e. the doorlock status says N/A in gray, and battery as well as all buttons are gray), click on your GPS locate, even if it shows a magnifying glass hunting for your vehicle, just exit back to the command screen and swipe down, let me know if your commands “wake up”. This is not to be tested with ADS profile or in conjunction of protocol changes. This test is only to be done when Fortin is the protocol and hasn’t been changed for a while and when you see the described symptoms above of “gray-outs”. Let me know. Might also be a temp solution until the factory cleans up whatever is causing some inconvenience one the very small handful of you.
