Sorry for all the question out of the gate but I am preparing for a two week hunting trip and want to know as much as I can before I head into the wilderness.

The nav system in the truck seems foolish, I can use my Android phone and the truck will speak directions but no video. On the other hand, I can play music, make/take phone calls, play Youtube videos, etc., I just can't talk to the nav system.

This means I can't speak an address or point of interest so I have to manually enter the address.

Also, to enter my "home" I can't enter an address, I have to zoom in and touch a point on the map but can't zoom far enough to be accurate.

What are my options? Software upgrade? Forget it and use my phone exclusively?

    Thanks!

I have the Nav in my sport and I can use the speak button on the steering wheel to talk and ask directions. It is something that you have to play with to figure it out. Good luck nothing else I can say.

Thanks! I will keep trying. I can use the talk button on the steering wheel for everything else but not to talk to the nav system?

My Nav works with the speak feature. It's not great. It understands the command "Navigate home," and that's about it Sometimes I can get "navigate to previous destination" to work. Trying to use the microphone to find a new point of interest, yeah, I gave up years ago.

Also, my maps are from 2018. I have not updated them, nor do I want to. I go about it the old fashioned way, review the map before I drive (I'm in the habit of checking traffic before every drive anyway), and maybe set up audio cues through bluetooth as a reminder.

Just got off the phone with Toyota America and Toyota Canada and was informed my truck is "non-telematics" meaning it has no communications module which allows things like "Remote start", "talking to the nav system", etc.

Rather than start yet another thread, does anyone know if the odometer and speedometer can be reprogrammed for bigger wheels and tires?

Depends on how much bigger. The vast majority of Tacos under-report speed(over-report odo). Going up the +0.5 to 265/70-17 or 265/75-16 makes most people more accurate. Going up to true 32s makes them very slightly over-report speed(under-report odo). On 33s and up is where people debate on getting the module. Most don't bother, as you won't be going fast with big tires anyway. :cookiemonster:

That sounds about right cause I was sitting in my truck this afternoon and had the music on and pushed the talk bottom and asked to take me to the nearest city and it did bring the map up with that city and all I had to do is give an address and there it was. Then I cancelled out and the system went back to music. So it works great for me.
