Looking at the screenshots in the update instructions, I don't think this applies to the Entune headunits in our 2nd gens. Would be cool if it worked, though.

Looked at my sd card that I ordered from eBay. It is a new factory Toyota sd card. Payed $39 for it. Navigation was dated 09/01/2015. Was the newest update for the Navi on Entune.

This solution above looks interesting..My microSD card popped out and flew over my shoulder into never never land while I was fiddling with it like a dumbass.. frankly the nav is a joke compared to my phone with google maps. . I have an older Motorola G that I WiFi download my local area maps to, keep it in the truck, set to "always on, with screen always on but with sleep" and plugged in, the battery rarely if ever runs down as its my DD, so its ready to go asap. and I don't even need to use my primary handheld unless searching for restaurants and stuff, which the truck nav blows at anyway.

I bought my 2013 in 2015 and insisted that I had the current maps upon delivery. I have yet to get any notice that an update is available.

I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 for a Garmin 4 years ago and it has lifetime maps for FREE. I pay $31,000 for a truck with an over $2,000 nav and it costs me $300 to update the maps.

What am I missing? This is very disappointing! Last time I EVER pay for a "premium" option like this again.

I have NAV and never understood the guys that bitch and whine that map updates aren't free. If you want free updates buy one of those cheesy suction cup navs for your windshield. Welcome to reality, business's are in business to make money.

The Toyota nav sucks ass. Did I know that when I bought it? Nope.

I wanted a clean setup. That I got...but the map data leaves a ton to be desired. Now more moola to update...no confidence.

What's worse...we Canucks do not have Entune. I'm glad that the rest of the truck is awesome.

Portable nav (like Garmin) > phone maps > in dash nav

Portable. Is portable. Move between vehicles, carry by hand, take on a trip where maybe you fly and pop it in the rental car, lifetime updates and traffic. And fairly low entry fee, fairly decent screen.

Phones are all the above, with a smaller screen. Except when you don't have a signal. Or you need to use it for something else. So, ok for in city futzing around, not bad for interstate point to point, gets pretty limited off road.

In dash. Big, shiny, expensive to buy, expensive to fix, pricey to update. I'll pass.

IF I bought a used vehicle that came with in dash, I'd not rip it out. I just wouldn't use it. Or update it.

Yep...my truck was used. I still consider it a live and learn experience. Although it sucks, I do have it as a "backup" if necessary.

If someone knew how to convert SD card map data do a CD for use in my 2013...I'm ALL ears!!
