Navigation map update

Can anyone point me in the right direction where I can find out how to update the maps for my 2017 lots of mixed information out there. and everything I've seen online points to the Entune app which I can't seem to find in the App Store., Any help would be great

 

If you want to update your maps you have to buy the newest SD card. Not sure off the top of my head what the part number is as I haven’t updated mine in a few years.

 

I wonder if you can use another mapping app.

o do this, access your Toyota's menu.Select Setup, then select Bluetooth.Finally, open your phone and select your car from the list of possible devices. Once you do this, you can route your directions through your car speakers by using the Google Maps app on your phone!

Ok so dumb question how do I get from the SD card on my head unit

 

I believe the SD card is on your head unit.

Google maps is up to date...

 

Waze maps better too.

 

And they only work with internet access on a smartphone. Built in sat nav works without either.

I paid more, but got mine right from my dealer ($80). 100% confident, unlike the hacked Chinesium ftom Amazon. Comes with easy to follow instructions with pictures. Took only a few minutes to do.

 

Can download maps to phone. Works without net too.

Like phone nave better than on truck nav. YMMV

 

And Toyota maps doesn’t do funky routings. I have had google and Waze do some strange routings.

 

I think that is all maps. My Toyota maps have gotten me lost in diff states.

 

For Waze and google maps you need to turn on/off options like
Shortest distance
Avoid tolls
Shortest time, you risk the reroute to save a minute but sometimes it’s a 20 min delay due to an accident

wife uses Waze.
I like google maps, restaurant rating works too.

 

My truck has the non-JBL premium auto which has dynamic navigation. Maps are in the cloud so you always get the most current available plus traffic alerts. Truck came with a 3 year free trial so I have a little less than a year left before I have to buy the subscription. It's been very reliable and I figure either I pay to update the maps or I pay to buy the subscription, so I will buy it.

 

I have had the complete opposite of results.

I drive all over rural areas, and very rarely these days are more than a couple miles to the next tower,, if I ever do loose signal, which the map will keeping running anyways. The Toyota GPS has been horrible for me, it is almost always late at reporting construction, traffic, accidents, etc,,, way too late, I will have driven in to a complete standstill before it will turn the highway color red and start alerting me about alternative routes.
