My next door neighbor's dogs bark constantly and it is driving me nuts. I don't know what to do about it. I have tried talking to them a few times but they are real scum bags and they tell me they will take care of it but nothing happens.

Personally I think dogs are awesome and I wish I had one.

However, these people are the type of people who should not have dogs, its sad. They are the typical back yard pit bull breeder @$$holes who dont work. They just sell drugs and dogs for a living. These dogs are outside 24-7 all year and completely ignored with exception to the occasional "SHUT UP" screamed from the house. and cruelly forced breeding sessions. It is F-ing gross!

I tried calling animal control, they did nothing. I may try the police, not sure if they will do anything either.

What can I do? Anyone had similar situations? How did you handle it? :annoyed:

Is there a noise ordinance in your city? Id call the police during the hours the ordinance is in effect and they'll definitely do something about it.

You mentioned the dogs were/are being abused (assuming since you stated cruelly forced breeding sessions). If that's the case, video it and then call animal control. Beware though, if they go into SPCA's custody, there's a decent chance they'll be put down since it sounds like they're older pit bulls and not very well socialized or trained.

They're selling drugs, so call the cops and tell them that. Druggies usually don't last long when the cops are watching them. You don't want that crap in your neighborhood anyway. Usually I'm not one to call the cops on druggies, I think it's not my business. But if they aren't smart enough to keep their dogs quiet and keep their drug activity not obvious, sounds like they're asking for it.

Move to an Asian neighborhood. Dog problem solved. Jk

Just keep filing complaints with the city.
Or throw them some meat with a sleep aid pill in it.

If you plan to call the cops, make sure they don't roll up to your house just before they roll up to the other... even dealers would be smart enough to figure out who called the cops, and you don't need that kind of heat on you or your family.

Look up local ordinances and see what you can do.

I had the same issue last year minus the drug dealing and dog abuse.

I wrote a e-mail to my police chief and he said he would take care of it.

I also wrote a letter to the home owner on stationary I fabricated that was from a well respected local law firm stating the local ordinances and telling the homeowners they would be taken to court by 5 of their neighbors if the barking did not cease.

Problem solved. I haven't heard a bark again and I'm 99% sure they got rid of the dogs.

Now before everyone flips out I am a dog lover and have owned one my whole life with exception of the past 7 years. The barking was 24/7 by some POS yappy poodles.

Your step dad is an asshole for doing that. Sorry, but that's a really mean thing to do to a dog. It's not the dog's fault, it's the owner's inability to properly train their dog. Your step dad should have taken it up with them or gone through Animal Control rather than feed the dog something that he knew was detrimental to their health. They stopped barking because onions cause them to have shortness of breathe. It's like strangling someone and saying, hey, they stopped talking.

Still pretty fucked up that you'd suggest something like that on an open forum.

When the owner doesn't take responsibility after numerous attempts to resolve the situation respectfully, secondary action is required. The dogs were never injured and it only happened one time, we assumed the dogs puked onions up all over the neighbors house so they finally took care of their animal. Imho leaving your "pet" outside and unattended to is more animal cruelty than giving them an upset stomach once or twice.

I completely agree with the leaving your dog outside comment. People who own dogs and just leave them in the back yard and don't do anything with them shouldn't be pet owners.

Depending on the dog's size though, onions can do a lot more than just make the dog sick. Onions can kill a smaller dog (can kill a larger dog also in larger amounts, their systems are just more tolerant), that's why I got all up in arms about mentioning it on an open forum as a solution.
