Well first of, whats up guys im new here, Im David, im a car guy who loves honda and toyotas, just recently own a

1996 red tacoma base model regular cab.
    2WD, 2RZ 2.4L, automatic.

So hear me out. The truck is awesome, but there is some problems ive been having. For some reason when im drving randomly the check engine will turn on and makes the transmission drop a gear, but sometimes check engine goes away and it upshifts again. Whats up with that. I changed the dizzy, brand new OEM, new spark plugs, oil change, air filter, and tried 93 octane.

And also for some reason the truck feels sluggish, like it doesnt want to go anywhere at first. Its like its super slow from 0-40mph

If you guys can give me any ideas. That would be great.

And Im soon gona do a tranny flush as well.

    Start with the Basics.
1.) have you replaced the plugs and wires with he correct Parts and quality?
2.) have you moved the coil pack to see it the fault follows it?
3.) Have you cleaned the throttle body yet? I harp on this one.
4.) Clean the MAF and change the air filter?
