if you had the choice of a red 2004 dubble cab or a silver 2005 dubble cab both have 100.000 km on them

05 is a great truck! I had an 03 taco, the 05 is a better truck. I have 86,000 miles without any problems. Still has the power it had when I bought it. It is a roomier truck. Can tow a boat without any problems. My 03 I had a problem stopping quickly while towing.

The 05 Tacoma is on the old Tundra platform. It isn't like it was built from the ground up as a totally new vehicle.

The only thing I have had to do is the usual oil changes, etc. Replaced the tires once. Brakes twice (just had them done). Alignment once. Tires are rotated & balanced every oil change (for free (costco)).

I'll take the 05, Toyota has been making trucks for decades I don't think they need a extra year or two to perfect their design.

Pre '05's are smaller, much smaller interior. I thought about buying one a few years back but decided against it for this reason. You'll have decide whether that's a factor for you or not.

+1... haven't had a single problem with my 05 and it's an early production one. Ordered December 04 and delivered off the truck April of 05

I wish I still had my 03. New trucks do have more power and space, but the build quality is way down.

These 2 here answer your question.Sounds like she'll be much happier in the quad cab.

The only problem my '05 has is the weak tailgate. Otherwise its completely problem free. I enjoy every minute I spend driving it.

The 04 and earlier models are good trucks, but they are tiny. For that reason I would not buy one.
