I'm trying to install something like this to a cargo carrier:

I don't have the tow package on my truck, so I can't plug in a harness to a 7/4-pin connector.

Is there a way I can essentially just tap into a different wire behind the bumper to provide power for the light? Is there any that would be recommended?

    Thank you.

Tap into either the existing license plate wire or the parking lights.

Why bother putting a plate on the carrier in the first place?

The cargo carrier will block visibility of the license plate on the truck once it's loaded. In Florida, it's illegal to block the view of the plate when you're driving around.
