Anyone ever installed one of the Axxess ASWC steering wheel controller things?
I am trying to help my brother in law install one in a 2010 Tundra. I can't figure out what to connect the wires to.
I have connected the black (ground) and red (12v accessory) but do not know what wire the Green/Orange and Black/Green wires connect to on the Tundra. The wire colors should be the same on the Tundra and Tacoma. Any help would be appreciated.

Pioneer head unit, PAC steering wheel control modual, Hard wired Sirius radio, Hard wired radar detector, Hella Supertone horns, Blacked out badges, Smoked Tails, BHLM (color matched Speedway Blue), T-Rex Eyelids, Black Powder Coated Billet Grill, Color Matched Engine Cover, Lund in channel vent visors, FJ Cruiser wheels, Leer 100XQ shell, OEM bed mat, Piezo beeper for locking doors, Tinted front side windows, Black Westin bull bar, Aires tube steps, Mini Maglite Mod, D-Cell Maglite Mod, Weathertech Digifit Floor Mats
I used a PAC controller, but there was a bunch of wires left over that I did not have to use. I just capped off the ones that were not used and kept on going. The controller I used works on numerous makes of vehicles, so that's why there was so many wires to choose from.

Your situation may be the same.

Swc add-on Harness W/Rca For Toyota (70-8114)

Product Details
When installing an aftermarket radio the 70-8114 will allow the user to
retain their factory installed steering wheel controls without having to
splice into factory wiring -(ASWC required and sold separately). In addition
we included RCAs to allow the user to retain their factory installed
3.5mm jack. Aftermarket radio must have Aux in.This is a optional harness. Main power harness still required.

Good point on the cut factory wires part.
They sent me a sheet that said the same crap as the other instructions they gave me.....
ASWC Connections
1) Connect the Black wire of the ASWC to ground. You may use the same grounding point as the aftermarket radio. I HAVE DONE THIS ALREADY!
2) Connect the Red wire of the ASWC to a 12 volt accessory wire, one that turns on and off with the ignition key. I HAVE DONE THIS ALREADY!
3) Connect the Green/Orange wire of the ASWC to pin 7 of the vehicle. WHICH F-N WIRE IS ON PIN 7 OF THE VEHICLE????
4) Connect the Black/Green wire of the ASWC to pin 8 of the vehicle.
WHICH F-N WIRE IS ON PIN 8 OF THE VEHICLE????
4) Connect pin 6 of the vehicles harness to Ground.
WHICH F-N WIRE IS ON PIN 6 OF THE VEHICLE????
5) All other wires on the ASWC please tape up, they will not be used.

did you get a little booklet titled "application Chart".....it has a pictures in the back that shows which plug type the Tacoma has....and shows what the Pin Out is..i.e. the Pin ID numbers...if I rememebr right the two the Tacoma use are top row 3rd and 4th from right. In other words there are 10 pins in the top row....start counting left to right.

here you go. I was pi$$ed trying to understand also- Emailed Metra (several times) and this is the info I got. Works fine. Also- you can run the ground for the ASWC to the ground for the head unit also. Cheers!

Vehicle Pin 7 violet/white To ASWC Green w/Orange stripe
Vehicle Pin 8 yellow/black To ASWC Blackw/Green stripe

I will have to try this combination.
So there are four wires on the ASWC that need to be connected?
Black, Red, Green/Orange and Black/Green?

No- the vehicle violet/white goes to the ASWC Green w/Orange stripe
and the vehicle yellow/black goes to the ASWC Blackw/Green stripe. The white/red of the vehicle and the black from the ASWC get grounded along with the head unit. There you go!

I wired mine exactly like this.... And it still doesn't work!! Not sure what to do now. Tear it out and return it? Pisses me off.!!!

It follows the blinking pattern it says in the manual... But never goes to solid red it just stays at a slow blink the whole time.

Any ideas??

I could never get mine wired correctly either. I am going to try the #70-8114 harness I mentioned previously and see if that helps in any way.

I had problems with my install and realized that I had one of the wires hooked up wrong. If I remember correctly there is a orange with green wire and a green with orange wire. They look pretty similar. Once I switched them, things worked like a charm.

on a Tacoma the wire colors are different than a tundra. also, there is a mini jack that must be wired into some after market hu like kenwoods. there should be a blue/yellow wire from the hu that is labeled as "remote". this gets spliced to the solid brown wire on the back of the mini jack.
