    Woooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT MINE WORKING!!!!!!!!!

I finally decided to tear mine apart again and mess with it(months later).....My issue was not having the white/red from the factory harness hooked up. I was thinking I had it grounded by having the black from the ASWC to the radio harness but I was wrong. As mentioned above the white/red from the factory harness NEEDS to be connected in with the other ground wires.

    Worked instantly!!!!

    THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Now if only I had a better option for the mounting kit.....I have single DIN Alpine and the Metra kit(from Crutchfield) and that thing is a total and complete POS. The plastic mount is so damn flimsy it's actually appalling!!! Oh well....some day I'll buy a double din and be able to use the factory metal mounts and lock it down tight.

Man, this was a complicated install for a noob like me. Thanks much for this post:

I made these 4 connections, plus I used 2 taps and and extra piece of wire to connect the white w/red stripe wire (more like orange stripe, not completely red) to the black ground wire mentioned in step 1. Plus I was installing a Kenwood receiver so I had to use the brown wire on the 3.5mm adapter, and taped up the other adapter wire (brown w/white stripe). Switched on the ignition and it worked perfectly the first time.

This thread, or at least a condensed version with the wire info, should absolutely be a sticky.

No, that appears to be the dedicated Toyota harness. Mine came with about 20 wires and a confusing diagram on how to pick the right 2. Newer versions are coming with a simpler harness like what you have there.

Here's a clue: the actual AXXESS unit should cost you about $60, not $9. ;)

Ok. So I have tackled this project myself, read through every thread I could find on this and searched the internet looked at the axxess site ect. I have my aswc hooked up like this.
    1) Black wire of the ASWC to ground using the same grounding point as the aftermarket radio.
    2) Red wire of the ASWC to a 12 volt accessory wire, one that turns on and off with the ignition key. Same as aftermarket radio.
    3) Connect the Green with Orange stripe wire of the ASWC to pin 7 (violet/white) of the vehicle.
    4) Connect the Black with Green stripe wire of the ASWC to pin 8 (yellow/black) of the vehicle.

But when I turn it on and try to get it to program it blinks really fast at first and at one point it will turn the volume down a little bit on my head unit. After it flashes fast it pauses for the 2 seconds and flashes 7 times all short. Then pauses and flashes 6 times. I am using the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. Any help is greatly appreciated.

See my post above from 10/30/11...you NEED to have the white/red from the factory harness connected in with the other ground wires. Mine was doing exactly what you describe until I connected the white/red from the factory harness into the other ground wires. As soon as it did that it worked instantly.

I am having issues with getting my access awed to control my 4300dvd. I have read all of the post and my wiring is correct. The red and white wire is grounded good with the radio. The led flashes and goes through the set up and then completes. The volume will beep during set up once. I am at a loss here.

NVM LOL. I feel like an idiot! There is a orange and green wire and a green and orange coming from the assess. It will work if you wire it correctly! Dumb A** lol

Curious if this harness also works for the bluetooth controls on the right side of the steering wheel? I want an aftermarket headunit but dont want to lose the wheel controls (audio or bluetooth). If so, the new receiver should have bluetooth built in correct? Unless I want to shell out $$$ for a bluetooth adapter for the receiver right... I dont know jack about audio components obviously. Thank you very much for your help!

It will work, you'll need a Bluetooth compatible HU. Go to axxess.com and check it out.

This is what I used for my Pioneer 4400. There are instructions for a Kenwood HU. I scratched through it bc I didn't need it, but you can still read it. I cannot find where I got it on the web so I just scanned it back in.

I gave up on mine at 5pm yesterday. I disconnected the radio controls and put it back into the bag. Might tear it apart again down the road. So far I am in the hole on that purchase.

I installed a harness that i ordered from *********.com , it's specifically for the tacoma, but when i had everything wired together and i turned the ignition switch on and as the controller was flashing i pressed volume up and down while it was programming and everything works just fine. Did you try pressing anything while it was self programming? If it still doesn't work, it might be the controller your trying to install. The one i ordered from ********* was pretty quick and easy
