Need help knowing if I should buy

I'm living in Utah and there is a 2001 Tacoma regular cab with super low miles right in my price rang, however, its across the country. I've contacted the dealer and spoke to him and he said it is mechanically superb (his words) and will make the trip. It was an old city vehicle so I'm assuming it was taken care of all through it's time. I'm a litle worried because it's a gamble, I cant see the truck till I'm out there to buy it. I'm also worried that it wont make the travel back and then I'd be stranded as well as not have the funds to buy another vehicle or fix whatever happened. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Define Across the country ??

Maybe one of us is close although I am not sure I would trust a unknown person.

 

Flying cross country could be a really expensive way to find out you don't want the truck.

 

I went by train interesting till it was done it was a expensive mistake

 

Do not believe the words of any seller/dealer untill you see it for yourself or have actual proof of what he says

 

I've traveled many miles to purchase sportscars and deals have worked out more times than not.
Good photos are a must even though an unscrupulous seller can obviously hide or not photo known defects.

Unless it's free, its overpriced. I worked for."the city", they only bet rid of vehicles when their maintenance is too expensive to justify. No city worker treats their vehicles well. Think rental car abuse x10.
