I know nothing about stereos, amps, speakers, and head units but know that I want them. I have been searching this site and I am still confused.

    1. To get amps and subs do you have to get a new head unit? if so why?

    2. Where do you get the new dash for the head unit?

    3. Are new speakers necessary? Has anyone had them blow out?

    4. Where are good sources or sites to get amps and head units?

    5. What are the sizes of boxes that fit behind and underneath?

I have installed a couple amps/subs using the factory deck. I had to wire into the back speakers.

From Crutchfield, my dash kit came with my HU when I bought it.

New speakers aren't necessary but def help. Just depends on how loud you want it.

take it somewhere and have somebody that knows what they are doing do it.. if you have the JBL system there is a bunch of shit that wont work without using the factory amp.. like if you want to put in a new sub you have to replace all the front speakers because you cant bypass that factory amp..well thats what the guy who i talked to told me.. he said you can run your door speakers off the deck and just get a 2 chan. amp for the sub but idk if thats the truth.

SwingCase, driver side. PVC Bike rack. Aftermarket stereo.

All of this is based on a factory system without JBL.

    1. No. You can use speaker level outputs (tapping into factory wiring) or a Line Out Converter (LOC)

    2. You can buy a dash kit on Amazon from Scosche or Metra (I prefer Scosche after having both for my truck)

    3. Nothing is "Necessary". A nice improvement, yes.

    4. Lots of places, including a local shop. Remember that online places will save you money, but if you dont know how to install it, it may not be worth it. But, YOU CAN DO IT!! Check out Crutchfield, Sonicelectronix, and Amazon for some great pricing

    5. Generally, a 10" or 8" sub will fit without much work. Do a simple search on google for Tacoma Double Cab subwoofer box, and you will find places that make em. Like this: http://www.supercrewsound.com/commerce/catalog.jsp?catId=69

Keep asking if you have more questions!

loc's work but are not as good as a new head unit and you can buy yourself a pretty damn good system for pretty cheap if you shop around and buy quality brands but not the highest quality part number they make, i just bought myself a new head unit, a dash kit, an amp and wiring kit for my truck and cost me maybe 200
