    truck is a 2008 TRD O/R manual 4x4

currently in the process of doing the locker anytime.. after following the mod thread, and connecting all wires to the correct terminals, the relay doesnt engage when turning on the locker.

we have a 2009 TD O/R here that already has the mod done (about a year ago) and are using it for reference. we noticed the harnesses are in different locations on the 4WD ECU between both trucks BUT the wires are the same coloring.. except for two wires.. there are two pink wires.. we have tested both.

still no luck. any input as the truck is still torn apart at the moment

did this recently to my 2008, you need part # 275-218 from radioshack, it is a DC DPDT relay. check and make sure you didnt blow a fuse, i did on my first attempt. you will know you got the wires right if you just turn the key on a press the locker button - you should hear it click when you press the button. also, you HAVE to cut all the wires going to the harness, except for the violet ones. you cannot just splice into them... found that out the hard way.

you need 275-218 because it is a DC relay and not an AC like 275-217.

this is the combo that worked for me, and still works great today.

    1 - Green / Black
    2- Violet
    3- Violet
    4-Pink
    5- Green
    6- Blue
    7- Red/Black
    8- Ground

    what would be the difference?

    the year of truck?

the other truck we are using for reference is using the 275-217

i have no idea. i didnt think you were ever supposed to use 275-217, that is a AC relay which will not work for this mod. if that truck is wired up im pretty sure you will find it is a 275-218 that is being used. :notsure:

At this point we have stopped and are going to try this route (the 218 instead of the 217) ASAP.

Thank you for getting back to me!

We also need to find out which PINK wire to use. I guess we can try the 218 relay, and try both wires like we were.. i still dont understand why yours an mine are so different. :(

I'm going to be doing this mod this weekend as well and from my research I've found two different wiring diagrams for the 275-218 relay. The one quoted above and this one:
Also what gauge wire are you all using to tap into the violet wire?

    Gah so many variations!

Alright we will have to narrow this down, then probably do a write up just to fill in the blanks for anyone else.

I am pinking up the 218 tomorrow and hopefully will have time in the near future to tackle this again.

We spent 7 hours on this alone yesterday in 115* heat, not including the other projects. Sooooo needless to say, I am a little hesitant to spend time in the garage...

    EDIT:

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CHIMED IN ON THIS!!!! It has been pretty frustrating and I really appreciate the ray of hope you guys have presented here!

We will get It figured out man. That new relay and testing the two pink wires should get It to work.

Hey guys I just did the locker anytime mod and this combo worked with the dc relay. Hope you guys get yours worked out!
Edit: just clarifying that i was able to press the diff lock and the light came on, vsc and abs turned off. I have not actually tested the functionality of the locker. Ill get around to that before shoe creek next weekend hopefully :)

So after reading many articles on anytime locker mod I felt comfortable to give it a try. I follow the diagram as mention in this thread:

    1 - Green / Black
    2- Violet
    3- Violet
    4-Pink
    5- Green
    6- Blue
    7- Red/Black
    8- Ground

I used Radio Shack 275-218 relay and upon completion I turned the ignition to "on" and engaged the locker button. I can hear the relay click and visibly see the relay switch so I figured it was good and time to try it out in the dirt.

Once on the dirt I engaged the locker button and drove some circles and spun the wheels some but could not get the rear tires to lock up. I still only had one tire spinning? I engaged the truck into 4hi and 4lo and both worked but the weird thing was I didn't have any lights on the dash light up except for a yellow 4lo light when it was in 4lo.

Shouldn't there be some sort of light that will light up in 4hi and also when the locker Is engaged? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have not had a chance to tackle this again. too hot or too busy. I will post as soon as I have figured my mess out.

On mine the diff lock light came on, indicating it was engaging, and the vsc and abs lights came on, indicating they were disabled. You may or may not habe vsc, but at least the abs light should come on.

I havent had time or place to test mine yet but will try it out this weekend.

I don't have VSC but my ABS light should go off when the locker is engaged? Not sure why it's not engaging because it will go into 4lo as it use to but now the locker won't engage? I hope I can figure this out as I can't wait to be able to lock the rear end up in 2hi!
