I just bought a 2018 Tacoma TRD PRO with a K&N intake. I’m not too big into K&N intakes and want to get the TRD performance intake. The previous owner didn’t keep the old air box assembly and Toyota wants a pretty penny for a new lower box…the main piece you need to make the TRD intake do TRD “things”. And, to really kick things up a notch, Toyota doesn’t sell the air box assembly clips as single parts. So… does anyone with an aftermarket air intake possible have their OEM one I could possibly buy/barter/pay shipping for? I’d like to see if I could get the whole set up sans MAF sensor, from the air box assembly up to the throttle body.

I pretty sure you can trade the k&n for a stock intake. nothing wrong with k&n intakes along as you are not in California

This wouldn’t provide him with the lower air box nor the clips he needs as they are reused with the TRD Intake system.

I just replaced mine and the only hardware left over are the metal hose clamps.

Finding someone local who would want your system would be the best bet. Could probably make a buck or two on it as well I would guess.

Edit: This guy just bought a new taco and mentions getting a K&N intake set up. Maybe incentivize him with a swap.

Doing a swap is you best bet IMO. Pretty sure a large number of people would be open to the idea in whatever area you live.

I would do it in a heartbeat if you lived near Albuquerque and even pay you a bit extra for the upgrade.

@GumShoe I’m in Tucson. I’m hoping to find someone local…Albuquerque may be as local as I can get… I’m going to keep my eye out for now but I may take you up on it.

I agree with Gumshoe. You are better off trading your K&N CAI setup for someone’s factory one. I am sure you could find someone local in AZ who would like to do an upgrade. The other person would be making out unless you could get some cash in the deal. Post on OfferUp or Craigslist and see if you get any interest. Also, put your location in the first post since people tend to not read through all the posts to know where you are at.

    BTW, Welcome to TW!

Not sure what you are trying to pay but there is one local to me. Could try to get him down to 75 and I could ship it to you? Not sure what shipping would be. Just a thought.

    Knew I saw one somewhere

I tried the “start a conversation” option with you. I’m new here myself.

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
or you could cruise the body shops looking for a Totaled unit. Maybe you could make a deal with the owner.

Trade your truck for one with a stock intake.
