Hi, I am new on the forum and need some help from the guys that know about 3rzs, I have rebuilt my 3rz with new rings, new head, new injectors and on the dyno I am getting 70hp at the wheels ?, it is a 4wd and on the road it feels like the timing is retarded. cam timing has been checked and is spot on.
What hp should a factory standard 4wd 97 3rzfe have at the wheels.

It all depends on the dyno. Dyno readings will vary from one to the other. I would see if you have someone nearby that has a similar engine/truck, and dyno it, and compare the 2.

I'm def. no expert but HP readings at the flywheel & actual (like on a dyno) at the rear wheels losing 1/3 total HP isn't unrealistic by the time it goes thru trans/front diff & transfer if 4x, on down the drive shaft(s) pretty sure standard accepted readings are taken at the crankshaft/no load at varying RPM levels to get maximum, sustainable readings

I dunno, what is the rated hp ? 190-200 hp around there ? so 1/3 of that would be around 60 - 70 hp at the wheels

Umm.......no. You shouldnt loose more than 25%, but without having a baseline to compare, the OP isnt going to know if its his engine, or the dyno thats the issue.
