    Running 2 Tru B4.75's, 1 Tru 4.65, and 1 PPI A600.2, fully active...with O gauge everywhere and a Kinetic HC2000 battery...

Hate it when I'm wrong like that

Just noticed your sig "Questions about audio? Just ask me...advice is free"

Because I'm so impressed by your contribution to this thread...I am asking for your "free advice"....

Missed this post a while back, only getting to answer now.

I think it's obvious my statement was meant for the guys who are running the average sub and component system stereo. Most guys with the towing package alternator running a sub amp and a 4channel should have more power flow than is needed. But your system is FAR from average and I don't think you cut any corners on the install at all.

I like the gear but I'd have done things differently for sure. You could have accomplished 9 channels with two amps. Why you felt the need for rear speakers I have no idea; so realistically 7 channels were only needed. I find it hard to believe you're using even 1/4 of that power anyways. A driver like the L8 @ 88 1w/1m sensitivity with 200 applied watts would be up close to 113db and unless you're hard of hearing (or soon to be) you probably don't listen quite that loud all the time.

Well, then i apologize...your statement was very general.

I prefer a totally active system. I also like having instant/independent control over each stage of my system.. i can kill my front stage, rear stage, or subwoofer with a push of the corresponding factory fog light switch...(relays to amp remotes). VERY usefull for major tuning, as well as quick adjustments...also saves tickets as a quick snap of a button kills the sub :) Independent amps make this possible...Running 6 channel amps etc... OR 2 ohm loads makes it impossible, and generates more heat in my experience..and in South Florida that is an issue.

I like having rear fill. when tuned/adjusted properly it enhances even the best front stage IMO... they come in VERY handy at Drive-in movies etc...

As far as volume...well... I am still not getting as much as I would like, as the DSL mids are now my "weak link". I feel they beam, and quite honestly do not produce the midrange response (or CLEAN volume) I am looking for.

When I complete my new kicks (in fiberglass mode now), which I took great time in proper alignment etc, and install L4's, I hope to acheive the sound I'm after...and CLEANLY utilize even more available power from my amps. Once this project is complete, and I get my second battery and HO alternator installed, the last major "tweak" will be removal of the PPI FRX456, as I would like to install a Bit one.1. The available inputs, outputs, and features such as TA, phase control, EQ etc. I believe will enhance my system to an entirely new level...after about a year of tuning...lol.

I like the sub kill switch idea...nice :D

You'll like the L4's. I got Scott to send me a pair so the DFW crew could test them up against a bunch of TWEETERS. Yep, I said tweeters. They were outstanding playing all the way up. Careful when replacing your mids with them; you might just scrap your tweeters!

And regarding independent gains and tuning, you're right on with the bit one but you might give the JBL MS8 a look. Mine was acting funky so I'm getting a replacement. Especially since you have rear fill it would really help get the most out of your total system. I'm hoping when I get mine back it will sound like it should.

Lowered 3/4, debadged, led tails, projector headlights with hids, billet grill, blacked out windows, painted front and rear bumper and grill shell. Inside, 4 crappy 15's, suede wrapped headliner and door panel inserts, alpine double din, few painted pieces inside, and every led is either blue or white.
    email this guy from excessiveamperage.com : nathanpeddicord@yahoo.com

i emailed him before looking for an alt for my 4 banger and he quoted me $360 for a 180 amp alt shipped to my door that will bolt right on.

i am not advertising for this guy as i do not know him or have any relation to him. but in the research that i have done this is the only company that i have found that makes alts for the 4 banger tacos

According to the specs posted for his amplifiers he will draw up to 121 amperes for his stereo at full power. He only has an 80 amp alternator.

Been researching the MS-8...the more I read the more I think it may be a good direction for me. Concern I have is the 8 channel output. Im currently running 2 ch frnt tweets, 2 ch front mids, 2 ch front midbass, 2 ch sub, PLUS 2ch rear mids and 2ch rear tweets for a total of 10 channels.

Guess I would have to re-route some RCA's, run the rear out from the deck through the 4 channel tru 4.65 rear fill amp under the passenger seat, than through the pre-amp output to the MS-8 input...set the amp gains and be done.

Kinda sucks because the PPI FRX 456 Xover i have now has rear-fill volume control which is actually very handy.

Any suggestions on a better way to do it?

    Sorry for hijacking...
